Where is butterfli? Damn it. Now I have to f`ucking explain. The name is Vietnamese, it's an extremely common last-name, and sometimes, even as a first name. Imagine.. "Bob" (first name), it's as common as that. Feel free to debate with me on this, but I've seen more Nguyens than Trans, or anything else. My God, even my last name isn't that common.

PS: It'd be really hard for me to type out how I would pronounce it, because I say it like that person did during the very last 3 seconds of the vid. A lot of Americans says Nguyen the easier way, because it's just too much time and effort to say it right. Similar to how I prefer people to pronounce my name as "Koi" IRL, while there's actually an "H" in my name, and they'll never get it right anyways. So the dumbed-down version is better, because some words, a lot of people aren't used to saying. It's like Nguyet, Nguyen, Tuyet, etc.

You have no idea how annoying it is when people try to say my mom's name (tuyet), and always say "too-yet" when it's more or less "twet". That's why she has everyone use her english name [snow]

People can say it however they want, because chances are they won't get the actual pronunciation correct unless they know Vietnamese. I usually dumb it down to nwin. I used to try to get people to say it as ngwin but that didn't go over too well.

- "uye" is a single vowel, combined by 3 smaller vowels meshed together into a single sound, individually, they read: "oo", "ee" and "eh" ("et" for French).
No, I'm not a Nguyen if you're wondering. As for why Nguyen is so everypineappleingwhere, I don't really have a clue. Perhaps the Nguyen Dynasty being the last of its kind has something to do with it.

And nguyen is just the most common name for vietnamese people, just like for latinos you except juans, rodriguez, gonzales, etc
For koreans, you expect kim/park. For chinese i think it's tran or less. Forgot what japan is for.
