It's Van Halen - Hot for Teacher, in case you missed that. Very strange music video though. I never understood it. I hate to say it, but this pick does make McCain seem like a more appealing candidate. Am I that shallow? I guess it's also that lately Obama has been looking worse and worse. Edit: Eh, wiki'd her and discovered that she's anti-gay marriage and hardcore pro-life. Booooo I also heard that from my Government teacher, which is probably even more of a reason on why he picked her. She was on the cover of vogue magazine XD McCain picks Sarah Palin - Katie - 2008-08-29 Here's another "Fun Fact"..... Her vagina is a hot spot for Eskimos. Edit: No wonder he picked her ... Palin's husband, Todd Palin,[71] works for the energy corporation BP at an oil field on Alaska's North Slope (off wikipedia) ITS ALL ABOUT THE OIL. McCain picks Sarah Palin - WiseAlon32 - 2008-08-29 she's a hot teacher?!@!@# your country need some more REAL hot teachers, she's barely qualifying for a warm teacher.. and mccain hit 2 birds with 1 stone when he chose her, not only a woman, but young (well, kinda, not old to be more accurate) too. McCain picks Sarah Palin - explodingbbq - 2008-08-29 NPR says that someone edited her wikipedia entry so that it showed her in a much better light (played down the beauty queen, played down the brother-in-law scandal, added a nice quote, and so on) just yesterday. Kinda...suspicious, no? I think it's ridiculously irresponsible. He's old, he might die, and if he wins we have a good chance of having someone who has been governor of Alaska for just over a year with no national experience be president of the country. Not what I was looking for in a McCain VP pick. Kinda...suspicious, no? Not too hard to check, just look at the history of the page. In fact, I'll go do that right now. McCain picks Sarah Palin - hamburgled - 2008-08-31 If people really take time to think about it, this is a very VERY unwise decision. I'm sure she has her good points, and i'm sure the people of alaska know about those main points better than the poeple mainland do, but the fact of the matter is that in a leadership role it has to come down to a matter of experience. I find it compellingly ironic with Mccain blasting Obama in various TV and Net Ads for his readiness and experience to be a leader, when he himself chooses a fairly unknown governor with very little experience on the national level who could potentially be the next Commander in Chief of the nation. We'll see how it goes in November. McCain picks Sarah Palin - ItzAnth - 2008-08-31 DrRusty Wrote:No, just eskimos. Lol you just made my day. Funny stuff
McCain picks Sarah Palin - 0mgP1r4tes - 2008-09-01 xkatiie Wrote:Epic. Fail. Women are gonna vote because of the Vagina on the ticket. You would think he would pick someone that wasn't from Alaska and people actually knew. She actually has a somewhat active political history, unlike Obama. She also moose hunts. Women with guns are sexy @Fiel, I had the exact same thought, wouldnt mind seeing Katie in that blue bikini ;D madanthony Wrote:I can't believe he went with a political chess move over someone who's thoroughly qualified for the position of filling in if McCain croaks.Like Obama with his "chess move" of "Im gonna pick a VP that will make people forget that I have no political experience" lulz McCain picks Sarah Palin - Afrobean - 2008-09-01 Brandini Wrote:A smarter move would be to pick somoene because of their policies and history, not because they have a vagina. The idea here is that her policies are in line with what his own platforms are. She's a young, good looking lady who represents all the same ideals he himself stands for. Couldn't have made a better choice in my opinion, unless there is another good looking lady who represents all of his ideals and is also an established figure in national politics. I don't think there is such a lady. ClawofBeta Wrote:Problem is, a bunch of Hillary supporters voted her just because she's a women.A bunch of Hillary supporters also plan on voting McCain out of spite. A bunch of Black people will vote Obama just because he's Black. A bunch of voters will vote based on who has a better name. A bunch of voters will vote based on who they've heard more of. I don't think it's a good idea to pay any mind to what idiots will vote for. Brandini Wrote:Unless they plan on assassinating McCain and making Palin the new president I don't think they will vote outside their party, especially for such an unknown. You don't know how stupid people can be, do you? I guarantee there will be women voting for policies they hate just because a woman is on the ticket. The sad part is that many of them won't even know what policies they are voting for that are against their own ideals. The sadder part is that some of them WILL. Quote:I can't believe he went with a political chess move over someone who's thoroughly qualified for the position of filling in if McCain croaks. If I may quote former President Bill Clinton: Quote:You could argue that no one's ever ready to be president. And he's right, really. The only way to learn is by doing. Technically speaking, the person best prepared for the office is the one who has been there before. Incidentally, the job best suited probably to prepare someone for the job would be governor, and this woman has spent some time as governor (although I suppose the person you're referring to would be Mitt Romney, so you're probably right anyway). Really though, I'd like to see more governors stepping up, and less congressmen. Talk about political moves... it's not like the Senate or House does a single thing to prepare a person for the Oval Office. explodingbbq Wrote:NPR says that someone edited her wikipedia entry so that it showed her in a much better light (played down the beauty queen, played down the brother-in-law scandal, added a nice quote, and so on) just yesterday. Kinda...suspicious, no?Not surprising, I would think. Some people might not have cared enough to contribute, but with her achieving national recognition, more people surely came to the page, which would, in turn, bring more contributors. So long as things aren't REMOVED, I don't think it's a problem, but even if it is, would you really be upset with an entire presidential campaign because a lone person decided to make sure their favored side gets a shine of positive light? Quote:I think it's ridiculously irresponsible. He's old, he might die, and if he wins we have a good chance of having someone who has been governor of Alaska for just over a year with no national experience be president of the country. Not what I was looking for in a McCain VP pick.Protip: being a congressman won't prepare a person to be president. Protip#2: being a governor won't even do that much better of a job at preparing either. Saying "oh boo hoo they don't have experience", you might as well be thinking that presidents should be president for life. The only job which gives them the required experience is the job itself. You can't say "they don't have enough experience" because NO ONE has enough experience going into a first term. Quote:I find it compellingly ironic with Mccain blasting Obama in various TV and Net Ads for his readiness and experience to be a leader, when he himself chooses a fairly unknown governor with very little experience on the national level who could potentially be the next Commander in Chief of the nation. The difference here is that Obama spent a short time as a "community organizer", then had a few relatively short stints in legislative government, ending with him as representative of Illinois in the Senate. Mrs. Palin had a short time in local city council, followed by a few relatively short stints in executive government, ending with her as governor of Alaska. And in case you didn't know, the President is the head of the executive branch, not the legislative. Quote:Like Obama with his "chess move" of "Im gonna pick a VP that will make people forget that I have no political experience" lulzI think it's hilarious people would criticize one side but not the other. They're both doing the same thing; playing a game. McCain picks Sarah Palin - 0mgP1r4tes - 2008-09-01 Afrobean Wrote:I think it's hilarious people would criticize one side but not the other. Its obvious it wasnt because of her views, what she stands for, etc. She will get him votes. Nuff said McCain picks Sarah Palin - pandapple - 2008-09-01 well. i am not a republican, but i think mccain made a horrible choice. there was plenty of other women, but you have to pick a girl who you've met once before? how stupid. anti-homosexual rights. anti-choice. doesn't give a dghdg about global warming. so what does she support? guns. mccain has had 4 vows with cancer. he's 72. if he dies ... we're left with a mother of 4 and a grandson with down-syndrome who she has lied about and said was hers. if she lies again, we'll start a war just like how george bush started this war. overall. sarah palin = worse choice ever. McCain picks Sarah Palin - Dusk - 2008-09-01 Yeah, I'm voting Green party now

The worst part is that you might well have a good case to be made, but because you put forth your ideas in the way you did, I simply can't bring myself to truly care the slightest about what you have to say. Also, I'm getting kind of tired of people going "omg if he dies we'd have young lady president to deal with". Would this really be a problem? I honestly don't understand it. People complaining about "lack of experience", but this person has served much more time in the executive branch than Obama, than Biden, more even than McCain (protip: all of them- aside from her- are at a whopping 0). I almost want to call you all out as sexists, because quite frankly, that is the only logical problem I can see anyone having against her that is not an inherent property of other folks on the tickets. Incidentally, could you cite a source on your claims about the child with down syndrome? Perhaps it is these wikipedia bandits again, but I'm not seeing anything of the sort here, and frankly, the burden of proof always falls on the one making unverified claims. Dusk Wrote:Yeah, I'm voting Green party nowThat makes no sense at all. Are you saying you were planning on voting Republican before McCain chose this woman? Are you saying this action made you decide to jump across to the far left? Do you realize that all of the qualities about this woman which might be seen as negative also apply to McCain (exceptions being: she has a vagina, he does not; she is young and likely in good health, he is old and is known to have suffered from cancer many times over)? [confused]What I said wasn't directed only at you, nor does a person's gender make them immune to being sexist. A female can just as easily be sexist as anyone else, even against her own gender. Also: I really just meant it as a bite. I really don't see what is potentially unsavory about her aside from the standard characteristics of the modern Republican sorts: strong religious overtones, heavy anti-abortion message, heavy pro 2nd amendment, desire to oppress those who are different than themselves... One of the articles even alludes to "liberal bloggers" and rumors that she had faked her pregnancy. McCain picks Sarah Palin - sicnarf - 2008-09-01 Quote:Not surprising, I would think.
