3 hours isnt a movie. 3 hours is a short series going by 20 minutes per episode.

Which would be Haruhi season 2. If they actually did Disapperance for season 2, anyway.

This, unless I hear it really is worth watching.

Four years ago, a series called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" came out and took the anime world by storm. Imagine that times ten, something that could beat the highest bar ever set in anime history, and you've got Disappearance. It's worth getting a seizure for.

I just finished watching the 14 episodes of "Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu 2009" and I can say Endless Eight was worth it. Even though it felt quite boring it all helped to make me feel what Nagato was feeling and I liked what a bold move it was. The rest of the episodes were nice too.

Just waiting for "Disappearance" to come in a better resolution...

Yes, the movie does make up for Endless 8. To be honest, as I said earlier, I was expecting Disapperance to take up a majority of season 2 (instead, Endless 8, which was a fairly short chapter, ended up doing this). Since Disapperance actually was adapted, then I have no problems just thinking of that as the actual season 2, with Endless 8 being a side movie.

The hate from Endless 8 mostly just spawns from the way KyoAni decided to execute it. First they tease the fans with Disapperance images in Newtype and such. They do this for years, giving people hope that they'll get to season 2 eventually. It's obvious that they would, what with how much of a hit Haruhi was and how much source material they had to work on. They just decided to stretch out the wait though.

Then, it was finally found out that Haruhi was going to air again. "YES, FINALLY, SEASON 2!"

But KyoAni thought they'd have a little more fun, so they decided to comment after news had spread about Haruhi's airing, that it was just a re-airing of season 1.

You could say they were just trying to surprise their fans. Makes sense, considering the first season 2 episode aired completely without warning. Out of nowhere, in the middle of season 1, an episode aired with a different opening sequence. There were no prior announcements, it just came out of nowhere. "SO IT SEEMS SEASON 2 REALLY IS AIRING!"

So everything went fine and dandy, until Endless 8. First 2 episdes were okay. I don't think many people were expecting such a short chapter to last more than 2 episodes or anything. But IT KEPT ON. Every new episode of Haruhi was ENDLESS 8. KyoAni didn't even recycle animations or anything either! Every Endless 8 episode was animated differently, and voiced differently.

By the time Endless 8 ended, there were just 5 more episodes of season 2 left. Out of 14 episodes in season 2, 8 were Endless 8.

Oh, and K-on got a season 2 greenlit almost immidiately after season 1 aired.

On a side note:

I hope KyoAni didn't do this in the movie. Stop doing this, KyoAni. Keep the artstyle to one series please.

Heh, guess I wasn't affected by such awful trolling and such. I normally watch anime only as they finish airing (save for FMA:B and Hellsing OVA now) so I just watched all of endless 8 in a rush in one weekend, that way it didn't seem that long and tiresome, though I'd have liked a more eventful season with more of the stuff that made me like so much of S1 (though unexpectedness and bizarreness were accounted for in S2).
