Definitely no. Pokemon are what they are. Plus, most of the pokemon I like have pretty cool names anyway.

I name mine using classy names.

For example my Torterra in Platinum was named "Xavier."

Too classy. For me I stick to names that are either related to how they look or their type, or the first letter of their Pokemon name. My Diamond Torterra was named Botanica, seemingly fitting since it was a female.

I give Pokemon nicknames if they're female, Touhou names to be exact.

I'd ask someone with Pokesav and Japanese knowledge to give them the Japanese name too.

I don't typically nickname my Pokemon. It ruins them, if you ask me.

Now and then I have those moments where I just gotta nickname some, though. My Infernape in Platinum is named Darwin. :3

IIRC, it just my Porygon-Z (Polygon 3, inside joke)

I name my Pokemon that I use in Parties.

For example:

I name my Oddish/Gloom/Bellossom Furil

Reason?

Especially HM Slaves, I name mine Slave, Mule, Noob, whatever fits it.

I name most of the Pokémon I use, but if I'm catching stuff in bulk (I once caught like 2 boxes of Dittos in Diamond for IV and Nature breeding) I don't name them. If I want stuff to have a name I just use the name rater(except for PMD, because you only get one chance to name, or in PMD2 also after evolving).

My Porygon-Z is called Plug, my Weavile Chief, my Garchomp Jaws, etc. Never give legendary/one-off Pokémon names though(just Kyogre instead of KYOGRE).
