As Spidey already stated, there is no continuity at all in the series. I lost interest after the Johto saga. >_> I loved watching the anime, and have seen every episode starting from the very 1st until near the end of Johto. I got annoyed because Ash isn't really improving at all, he's just this little fgt-kid going everywhere and accomplishing nothing. I mean, he doesn't even have his Charizard on him at all times. Though I admit, the fact that Charizard comes once in a while to aid him is cool and all. <_<
Secondly, Pikachu hasn't gotten stronger, even after 400+ episodes. It's the same goddamn thing over and over. When I was younger, I said to my cousin "ya know, Pikachu is probably level 70 something in Mewtwo Strikes Back" as a joke to my cousin. I never realized the anime series would even continue up to this long. Supposedly, they're doing 5th gen. Fck this sht. The anime is getting nowhere, Ash abandoned all of his strongest Pokemon (true story).

KINGLER WAS BADASS, FREAKING TOOK OUT ALL 3 OF THE OPPONENT'S POKEMON SINGLE HANDEDLY. HYPER BEAM CLAW!
Butterfree had a very legitimate reason for being released. Lapras, kinda as well, but not so much. Muk was always the box pokemon, like Ash's Tauros.
Ash also got suckered out of his Primape, which he just got to listen to him.
"GIVE ME PRIMAPE, AND I'LL MAKE HIM A REAL CHAMP! BECAUSE, Y'KNOW, IT'S NOT LIKE YOU TOTALLY KICKED MY POKEMON'S ASSES. THAT CHAMPIONS BELT AROUND HIM DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING EITHER. TRUST ME KID, GIVING ME THIS POKEMON IS THE BEST DECISION OF YOUR LIFE!"
I still think Pidgeot was the biggest spit in the face. He promised he'd be back for it, and never saw it again.
Poor Pidgeot. Not even valued enough to collect dust at Prof. Oak's lab.
