Devil's Sunrise Wrote:Tiger has still achieved being the best golf player at a certain point in the history, and I don't see how that is not being successful. As of right now, he's not successful in his love-life, but that shouldn't affect his golf unless he stops training as frequently as he does.

Though, everybody have mistakes, and there's no way to avoid that. For example, I suppose you guys over at America have been "propagandaed" into believing the recently martyred Kennedy and King were saints.

It was kind of astonishing to learn later on that they'd both been serial womanizers (oh wow, connections), and that Kennedy was a speed freak to boot. But really, by the time King's plagiarism emerged, I'd lost the ability to be surprised by the misdeeds of famous people.

I know Tiger is still the best golfer out there, and his legacy as a golfer doesnt change. What I was referring to was his public image and persona, his "role-model" image. I remember hearing a statistic that said 80 cents of every dollar Tiger earns comes from endorsements. Tiger's had this sparkling image of ideal role-model with good wife and family etc.

That being said, all it's taken is a series of events (Car accident, women coming out... a lot of them) and its all gone to hell. All the success in the world, all the building up that he's done for his self-image (which pays better than his golf, really) is all gone within just a few weeks.

It's true that no one's perfect, but success and failure is no excuse for succeeding or failing. You're right, it's all about perception, and while Tiger's downfall has been gradual over the past few years (or perhaps even longer), it is within a few weeks that it all came out, giving the image of some gigantic fall.

Ps. Im not American, so Im not entirely sure of the whole "you guys over at America" thing...Im aware of Kennedy and King and the deeds you mentioned, but Im not fully aware of their true "greatness" and influence that they would've had in America =P
