EXPlosion Extended! - Herbert Jablonski - 2009-06-23 I came in here expecting the experience table change to become permanent. If they are willing to extend it, then there's still a chance that it'll become permanent some day. EXPlosion Extended! - MetaSeraphim - 2009-06-23 Dusk Wrote:Sorry if you fail at levelling, but the way it's supposed to be was the way it was before. Random insult from out of nowhere? Pretty sure you don't know anything about me and my characters. And since your character isn't even 150 wouldn't that make you fail at leveling? Anyway. Nexon decides how leveling is supposed to be, not you. EXPlosion Extended! - Kortestanov - 2009-06-23 Herbert Jablonski Wrote:I came in here expecting the experience table change to become permanent. EXPlosion Extended! - Alloy - 2009-06-23 FelixTM Wrote:One of the things I liked about MS was how it was harder to get high leveled. Not all of us are insanely lazy, impatient idiots who take no pride in achieving things. :/ Actually, the "MAGIC" in maple, as I see it, is leveling slowly, seeing your character grow without even noticing. Slow growing, yeah, but had its charm. Right now, however, it's still slow! There's no real difference about that feeling. Maybe you grow slightly faster, but still takes a while to get to the next level. At least it's the way of seeing this from my non-grinding perspective, and I believe I enjoy the game quite a lot. -I've been playing this game for 3 years, and I'm level 120 on my one and only character. -I usually go afk, chat, hunt for silly stuff (Long before monster book I went ahead and hunted 200 mushmom spores, 200 zmm mushrooms, 200 chief gray signs, 200 MT-09 fuels, 200 rombot cards, 200 bear feet, 200 snake leathers, etc...), go try to complete my quests before I need them, catch monster book cards, join all the pqs I can (I love my hat )...-I never really train, except when on x8 (lol) or x4, or with buddies, and not even that much. In fact, if I grinded, I'd have missed a lot of stuff from my early level scapades... Like when I tried to make the Insignificant Being's quest with my guildies at lv 50... Man, how many times I died! Aaaaand this are the reasons why I don't give a pineapple about the exp reduction :p EXPlosion Extended! - Dusk - 2009-06-23 MetaSeraphim Wrote:Random insult from out of nowhere? From all of your posts that I've seen all I've gathered is that you have some 2nd job warrior and absolutely no funds. And you're right, Nexon Korea decided how levelling was supposed to be many years ago. That's the way it has been until now. If Nexon decides how levelling is supposed to be, not any of us, then it's the way it was before. Nexon decided there is supposed to be a change in the exp curve. The curve it currently uses is how it works, and how it's supposed to work. If it's supposed to be another way, that would be the system in place then. o.o As for changes in exp curve...I'm indifferent. Still grinding involved. Still levelling at the same pace relative to other people in the game. Meh. EXPlosion Extended! - IsaacGS - 2009-06-23 Conciente Wrote:I don't like the EXP curve at all. Yes, we level faster but that just makes the game easier than it already is. It's pretty stupid that at 188 I only need 890m EXP, when I really should need ~1.1b. This is stupid, plain and simple. I want my normal EXP back, give us more suffering por favor."only" 890,000,000 EXP when the most EXP from a single regularly spawning monster is 4,750 EXP. I mean you only have to kill 187,369 Skelesauruses to level! It's not like that's a completely ridiculous number of times doing the same thing over and over again. For the most part I'd rather our version stick to KMS (the original) as closely as possible. If they decide the exp curve needs to be changed, so be it. If they want to make it permanent they should just say so. They're mostly just "extending" the event to make people grind their asses off because they're afraid it'll go away. It's easy enough to level as it is. Your relative levelling pace stays the same, but at the same time a ton of low levels are getting pushed up into 4th job for much less effort than should be required. If they changed the exp curve back when it wasn't possible to level at at rates of 30%/hr+ up to 3rd job for most classes, insanely good 3rd job mobbing locations, a skele minidungeon for high levels, and there wasn't a family system that gave you hours of free 2x a day, I'd want the exp curve reduction as much as the next guy. Level 200 isn't supposed to be a point that everyone can reach. The level cap is intentionally set high to keep the game open-ended. It's not as if there's a lot of endgame content or significant challenges you can't do by 17x/18x. This isn't WoW: "oh, let me hit the level cap, and then start playing the game for real." They want to get the late 3rd job/early 4th job characters higher up for what they had planned to release around now. Ie: Time temple, and other high level content that could come in the form of masteria or ulu city. EXPlosion Extended! - Rob - 2009-06-23 Dusk Wrote:Which Nexon are you talking about? So true since most people won't notice a significant difference anyways. This was expected and very much intended to keep us from quitting maple because it really gives you a much easier time to get to 4th job, etc etc without the hassle and effort that we actually had to endure like 2+ years ago. Levelling's become easier, big fact. Once you get to level 200, maple is finito for most people. EXPlosion Extended! - nannerz - 2009-06-23 I'm talking about the Nexon that is in charge of the version I play...since well, that's the one I play lol. I hope that if they are trying to encourage more higher level characters that they might also accommodate this increase by opening more channels for zak and HT, especially in the more crowded servers. >.<' Pretty please... So let there be it. KMS is still on the normal exp curve. They're pretty much the only version with any kind of balance anymore (best atk pot is the 30 atk CS weather effects, 2x is only through events and family 2x, etc). Not to mention, they don't have NLC, which is pretty much the most broken place ever in terms of EXP and potions. We still train at Magatia and use old school pots (Mana Elixers, Unagis, etc.) over there. I'm happy the curve is staying. I'm naturally a slow leveler, and it's nice to finally be able to catch up to my friends (most of my friends are already 12x or above, while I just hit 70 last week). EXPlosion Extended! - ItzTaylor - 2009-06-23 I think they fucked up and can't change it back, so now they are extending it to give them more time lol.

Yet of course, that seems to be the path Nexon is taking. After all, when I was driving home today I didn't hear a MapleStory commercial on one of Chicagoland's largest hit music stations, 103.5 Kiss FM, but rather a WoW commercial. By the transitive property, you can assume that, since Nexon's new approach to gaming is to make every cent possible, then they will work on tailoring their game to a more general audience that can't play as much as hardcore gamers do. If that means making it easier to hit the level cap because hey, North America's most popular WoW doesn't really get "started" until you hit the level cap, then so be it. |
