I think it's a bit of a coincidence. Notice they're all NPCs on the right, but all player characters on the left. I don't think it's inherently related to it. Maybe it's more of a "hey look, there are archers, we haven't forgotten archers again!"
Either way, like I said, I would expect there to be gunmen among the ranks of the ranged group. Fisticuffers among the melee group as well. Maybe they'll only be coyly mentioned in quests in this patch, and appear later when Pirates actually come out. But you have to realize, this is coming out now, they knew of Pirates while working on this, the Grandmasters were representative of all classes. I'm sure Pirates will be involved in some way, if not when it comes, then later. That's a cool thing to think of, I think.
