NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - MysticHLE - 2009-05-24 To the OP: Uhm, I'm curious as to what your ticket was. If it's not anything confidential, mind sharing your ticket and the response? Also I'm curious to know which category and subcategory you submitted it to. Nexon's been pretty good at replying to my tickets lately. NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - Avenge - 2009-05-24 MysticHLE Wrote:To the OP: I was sending a ticket for Ray. lol. It would be one thing if they got into just one of his accounts, but they got into all of them. From the looks of things they're just gonna stonewall me. Ray Wrote:Hi, my name is Raymond. Recently, 3 of my accounts were hacked. Around May 7th, I believe. The 3 account IDs are (lol they didn't even remove these from my ticket even after i told them to),. The last one was made roughly 1 week before the hacker gained access to it. GM Ziolet Wrote:Greetings, Also, please don't troll this post like they did on NEXON forums, I -know- they can restore items and mesos (and entire characters). Basically the second ticket I sent, I asked them to forward my last one to GM Crash/Anstar/Nethe (people I know who can actually help), and some other GM just gave me the same automated response as above. NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - MysticHLE - 2009-05-24 First of all, Ray's issue does sound like a keylogger. If it's not a keylogger, then he has either logged into a friend's computer, or someone has been installing Spyware/Keyloggers on this computer while he isn't there...unless he has info written or saved in a document somewhere on the computer too. Also...I hope you don't consider "friends" a trusted source of where to get files. Trusted sources should only be in terms of certified sites like say Adobe, Microsoft, NVidia, etc. In any case...that ticket doesn't seem to be like an automated response actually. He addressed most of what you sent in the ticket. You were a bit unclear by what you meant the character names that had access to your account, and hence you got his reply of: "A character cannot access your account, only a person who has your confidential information." Although I understood that you meant to have them check IP logs and track what other characters shared the same IP as Ray's account accessor at the time of his hacking, you need to state that explicitly in your ticket or else it might be misunderstood when they are trained to answer whatever you say literally on the whim since they have so many tickets to answer. Although, to request such is information from them is probably not gonna get you the reply/info you want since they will either: 1. Say it's confidential information or that it's not in their policy to provide such information. 2. Assume that he shared account information to begin with and then point you to the same FAQ. 3. On the off chance, actually tell you which other character(s) shared the IP that hacked Ray's account, in which you can't do more than to harrass them in game and beg. Personally my best suggestion to him is to first do a complete wipe/formatting of everything (only preserve PERSONAL documents and data files, and non from an outside source - by personal I mean personally created) and then stop downloading things and even surf the web entirely on that computer. I personally haven't even used an antivirus for the last 4 years now, and I only rely on Firewall. I don't browse the web nor do I download anything or click anything suspicious - even from MSN, and none of my accounts have been compromised. And if someone is doing the formatting/reinstalling for him, make sure that person is trustworthy, preferably a certified IT professional. Even before that, I had been extremely careful in regards to installing new softwares. After discovering I had been "hacked", I used KLDetector (which detects active keyloggers) and found no trace of one. The account was perhaps 2 weeks old at the time (I had created it after buying my laptop), wasn't shared, and had no relation to my CB's account which I had lent to Luke (SnugglyBuns) after his account turned up compromised. It seems extremely unlikely that I was keylogged. I can't speak for anyone else, though. I don't believe it's as black-and-white of an issue as it seems. The person that hacked Ray last year told him he was hacked through an exploit on Nexon's website (although most people think it's untrue and dismiss that possibility). Ray hardly plays MS, and rarely even goes to SW.net (the only MS-related website he visits), let alone go to some other website and download something like a keylogger. I don't believe in all of those "only ppl who hav u info can hak u!!1!1" arguments either. I know better. Unless they're trying to say ~20 people on Broa last year shared their account information with the same person....yeah sure, i'd totally believe that one. Their customer service differs from people so nothing can be said about it unless it reflects the majority of how they handle their tickets and responses. NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - Rick - 2009-05-24 Well, they just banned all of my friend's accounts for "disrupting the FM with a third party programe" when one account was just afking, one has never BEEN in the FM, and one hasn't been used for months >.> Now, they are refusing to listen to him, saying they got it right. NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - Zpyke - 2009-05-24 I hate the idea of getting temporary GM's. Who came up with that idea? They need permanent GM's. One's that can spend more time in-game doing events, learning the game, learning the lore and how to help people, and respond and help appropriately. Also, if they now can respond to everyone's tickets within a day or two with an automated response, then they can better bloody well take their time and give us a GOOD response even if it takes longer. Put their time to better use, no? And I also wonder about the version of Windows you folks used. Not saying that this is the absolute reason, but certain modded version of pirated Windows (if you/you guys use it) cannot receive certain Windows Updates, and you guys could have then been victims of actual software OS exploit/hack. The reason I am/was so skeptical is because: 1. Throughout my 4 years of playing I've seen far too many people lying about being hacked in order to get mesos/sympathy from "friends," and 2. In my ENTIRE circle of friends throughout all 4 years of my Mapling experience, none have been known to get hacked like that, except one person...and his ID and password were so easy that it could've been ran by a script and guessed within an order of magnitude of a few days. This is why I like to consider all possible cases of computer security issues. All other cases of people around me being hacked was a result of account sharing, as they all have admitted, period. I would still *like* to believe it has something to do with computer security. The Nexon site exploit argument doesn't quite work. If this so called exploit really did exist, then a lot (and I mean in the hundreds) more people (from every other server too) should have been targetted, and especially the much richer accounts (really, Ray's equips/mesos amount to nothing compared to that of a few friends I know). And even if you guys were only targetted as a result of personal disliking, that person would probably be relentless enough to hack way more from the numbers you guys make it out to be. I also recall the rumor of the exploit being based on the account ID being the same as the main character. If that really is the case, then A LOT more people should be targetted, since I know simply from experience that many people tend to make their account IDs same as at least one character on the account. But in any case, the fact that Ray is the only person that is continuously experiencing this really does suggest that it is a personal case of carelessness or computer security issues. Maybe your friend could've been a dc hacker on another account and the GMs IP traced him and banned all his accounts. o_o *shrug* NEXON customer service changing for the worse? - Avenge - 2009-05-25 MysticHLE Wrote:Well, Sean, if it is indeed the supposed exploit, it doesn't explain Ray's individual account hacking recently for this ticket of yours, right? This is the 2nd time, first was the day after 4th job, not really "continuous". He found GoPhillies selling his items (apparently kept the SC glove though); i've seen that IGN frequently in FM selling good items way cheaper than normal for months. I'm not sure how it happens but I doubt it's any fault to Ray. nTEC was a random, pretty much... why would the hacker that hacked everyone else target him specifically to run a script? And you're forgetting the fact that almost everyone that got hacked last year had their e-mail accounts compromised as well. Hell, the hacker that got Ray's account last year knew more information about his account than Ray did. I am not going to troll you, but I am a bit surprised that you're lvl 200 and don't know Nexon's policies towards this sort of thing. Nexon does NOT compensate or adjudicate either scammings or hackings as you and I define them. Yes, there is a laundry list of reasons why this is collosal f@ggotry. But that is besides the point. While I played I was in a guild consisting of most of the respected, wealthy, high level legits on Khaini. I have seen hackings such as this occur before my very eyes. One time the hacker tracked me in FM immediately after the hacking and boasted by showing off the stuff he stole in a trade window. Even if it's a site exploit, something Nexon is responsible for directly, they STILL will do nothing. Nexon did nothing for them, they will do nothing for your friend. They do not give a $hit. Unless the actual ToS for Maple Story is revised, unless they code additional tools (such as tracking what gets traded or transferred,) unless they start to give a $hit, this stuff will continue to go unpunished. There is simply nothing you can do. I am sorry, but that is the truth of that. That will open an ugly can of worm when they start doing IP bans. As for security. It's not a tricky matter, yet not a simple one either. One of our alliance member got hacked. According to one of my guild member, she's quite mature, good with computers etc and she knows how to protect herself online. Sure that's his words against your assumption, but that's just how it went down. As for Nexon's customer services being good with you, unfortunately, that's a rare sight. I stated before that a few years back, they reported profits in the 7digits. Why didnt they get more staff etc then. It kinda silly JoeW came out said "we didnt expect it to grow this fast" and "we're overwhelmingly under-staff". Mind you, this is the very guy who said everything is being "logged and loaded" only to have bigfoot called bullshit on that. Fast forward 2 years, and they still seem to be under-staffing. While it's true that this game has lots of immature 13 years old kids, you MUST understand that they're designed to suck money out of 13 years old immature kids, so if that's their target audience, I dont see why that's an excuse for them. You got hackings and scams everywhere on all servers and Nexon doesn't do $hit about those, but Nexon is "competent" because it restored 2-3 people? The vast majority of people DON'T get restored. I myself was screwed out of 500 bucks worth of crap, I had a mountain of evidence including a SS of the guy admitting the crap was mine on the email he used to create his maple account, and he never returned the stuff. Nexon didn't help me. They didn't even answer the ticket. Tons of my friends were hacked, Nexon didn't help any of them. So you give me 3 counter-examples, and you "know better?" I am really glad that being lvl 200 with speshul GM connections helped your 2-3 friends. I have no GM connections, I still should have gotten my $hit back, and so should all the people I met that had that happen to them. You sound like one of those guys that prefer living in a 3rd world dictatorship where the corrupt rulers' friends get favors, and you feel speshul because you're one of the ones getting favors, or you can get YOUR friends GM favors. To be blunt, none of us "ordinary people" give a $hit about FangBlade or Tiger or you. There is ZERO excuse for Nexon helping them (or you) but not helping people like me and my friends. You're not better than me becuase you have 40 levels on me. Until Nexon adjusts to restoring most or all of their victimized customers, it will be regarded by the vast majority of the public as INCOMPETENT. 2-3 scams/hacks fixed out of 25,000 or something is not a good track record. In fact i don't recall him saying that the cases of those people getting restored were even his friends. They were merely just cases that he knew about. Although i don't disagree with the rest of your post, just pointing that out. Here's a hint guys. You want help from a GM? Money talks. Lots of money.
