Lets all quit global and go to sea... - Davidkun - 2009-05-11

I hope we don't get "Episode 2". I hope they just call it... "Patch v.71/72/73/74/bug patches/90"

I'm kinda pissed at the "Episode 2" thing. Great! You implimented a big patch containing a new town, and possibly a new race. Did you really change the game that much? Is the gameplay so much different now, in a way that you can call it the "2nd Episode"? Nope. Unless you're hiding a new graphics change, and way updated GUI, and possibly revamped maps, with different monster levels, and redid all the drops and such, I don't think you did much. Asiasoft, please sit down, and STFU =)

All I see is this:

Database Error: Unable to connect to your database. Your database appears to be turned off or the database connection settings in your config file are not correct. Please contact your hosting provider if the problem persists.

Any advice on how to fix? o-O

I think I crashed the site, I tried going to download and that popped up.

Quitting to go to Sea is pointless - by the time you have a character leveled enough and funded enough to enjoy the new things, gMS will have them.

I tried playing WoW before, the learning curve is massive as hell... or maybe I just didn't have reliable resources at the time.

Wouldnt be too hard to get to cygnus, no matter what the pre req, and you could level your main to 45 pretty easily, and use the Elin forest, but otherwise, completely agree.

I think what MSEA is doing is bad, all at once would give you alot to do, you'd run around, skip life commitments for a couple days, take it all in and... then you'd want more.

I think we could fill 6 GREAT patches like... this:

V.71: Elin Forest and Elin Forest PQ

This would include a PQ that almost everyone can enjoy, if they don't have a character here, they can definitely get one here to try it out, and I'm sure there's new quests for the quest kings, and it's a pretty interesting little place. A couple UI updates could be added here, just appearance things.

V.72: Knights of Cygnus/Maker skill

Again, something that almost everyone can enjoy. I know most people will want to try out a Cygnus character, and even if you need a level 30+ to make it, you needed it up there in .71 too, so you can. If you're really not excited about Cygnus, you'd still get the Maker skill, which opens up a new level of gameplay to you, almost to the tune of Monster Book.

V.73: Masteria Expansion

Not a Crimsonwood expansion, open up a brand new area, I'd suggest either Krakia, or the real Bigger Ben. Something brand new that Global can discover and explore, hopefully with a fairly wide level range attached(Think Magatia, but starting and ending a bit higher).

V.74: Time Temple

Time to satisfy those high levels, I mean hell, you've waited long enough right? All 3 rows of the Temple and 3 new Area Boss style monsters giving plenty of new and better training places for those high levels that have been so horribly ignored. Pink Bean excluded for the time being.

V.75: Mu Lung Dojo

About time to enter the Boss rush. Now that you've leveled a decent level character after all those months, whether it be normal or cygnus, now maybe you're just ready to test your skills. To see just how far your character has come, and what they can do. What better than by scaling Maple Stories bosses, one by one?

V.76: Bossfest: Enter Balrog and Pink Bean

By now with all of this content, surely you've reached 3rd job. Now you can test your skills in a large, Zakum style boss even earlier with the new Balrog Boss! Gather your friends and hit the dungeon!

Are you 4th job? Balrog no challenge for you? I'll give you a ChallengeHothead. Defeat the undefeatable, destroy Pink Bean with the toughest Heroes your server has to offer, and claim your place in the maple history books.

(psst... V.77-V.90 would contain very little and mostly UI/CS/Bug fixes due to the amount of sugary goodness above, dont expect more than a pomegranatety little world tour area or some minigames(though I would welcome these))

Sure, it wont happen, just pointing out how it could be spread out instead of all clumped into 1 patch that they'll never be able to top.

Hello, its episode 2 . Episode. DO sitcoms and dramas change their storyline and types between one episode and another? No! Does episode 2 require you to make the characters in a show more beautiful and different from the first one?No. Does a show change storyline between episode one and two? No. Its their game, Its their right to package it.
Cheers

V71: Elin Forest and Elin Forest PQ, with Elin Forest monster cards dropping but cannot be seen in the book.
V72: Bug fixes
V73: Add Elin Forest cards in the book, destroys all old Elin Forest cards collected (already happened with Magatia lulz)
V74: Knights of Cygnus, but making a cygnus will cause autoban
V75: Bug fixes
V76: Bug fixes
V77: Bug fixes
V78: Bug fixes
V79: Bug fixes

Fixed.

On topic, I cannot enter the website in the first post. It's broken for me.

Look who's talking Mad You're just jealous we're getting it before you guys do Rolleyes

Anyone else noticed the Elin Forest and Mu Lung Dojo ads in the middle of the site? I'm not gonna be happy if they're gonna release 'em all at once. Kills all the anticipation.

You guys (GMSers) are quick to assume.

Unable to handle Pink Bean?

Just because you guys have ridiculously over-powered items which make the game a hell lot easier doesn't mean that only GMS can defeat Pink Bean.

Bugfest?

Asiasoft has been testing the recent content heavily, especially during the past month when there wasn't any patch for MSEA. This is evident in the gameplay videos of Time Temple and Elin Forest on FaceBook. I don't expect this mega patch to be bug free, heck it, even with smaller patches, GMS still has overdue bugs that stagnated for so long. (Bigfoot, GhostShip Capt, etc etc)

Just a fancy name for heavy content patch?

ThMS's episode 2 included a PERMANENT 1.25x exp rate, and many other features to boot, and not just some crappy 1 month "shifting of the exp curve" event. I'm sure that these features will be included in our patch as well, besides, ThMS and MSEA are both under Asiasoft.

Besides, Asiasoft has already been doing a lot to reverse the effects of the previous hacking saga and even implemented new systems to hopefully prevent history from repeating itself.

And for them to completely create a new website for Episode 2, something which many of us were pressing for (as our previous website was outdated), goes to show that they are really serious about this whole Episode 2 business.
