If you want to increase long term calorie burning, do more weight lifting and less cardio. Post your picture! No snacks, no soft drinks, no nothing really cause I have to live the next year on the measly $1k student loan leftover. Though to be fair, I primarily consume wheat, protein and very little fiber. I'm doing cardio for healthiness's sake. Does pushups count as lifting? Or do I need proper gym membership? Post your picture! Then you broke physics. Get your Nobel Prize. Okay, sarcasm, but there's something wrong with your diet or how much energy you burn. Quote:I'm doing cardio for healthiness's sake. Does pushups count as lifting? Or do I need proper gym membership? Anything which stresses a muscle will cause it to get stronger. Your heart will get stronger by doing cardio, but it will also get strong doing weightlifting. Your heart is small. Having a strong small muscle won't burn as many calories as having strong big muscles. As far as needing a gym membership, no, it's not required. http://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/ Post your picture! [v3] - Kalovale - 2013-04-14 I imagined myself doing a handstand and lol'd. You're not boosting your metabolism with a diet like that. Nutritionists recommend eating five small meals a day because when your body is constantly processing something, it keeps your metabolism up and burning. When you're only eating two meals a day, it speeds up/slows down in waves, and is more readily storing energy as fat after a meal. Also, if your diet is primarily wheat and protein with little fiber, that's a problem. A diet should be primarily fruits and vegetables, and as such lots of fiber. Not to say wheat and protein aren't important, but not as much as your plants. Post your picture! [v3] - Kalovale - 2013-04-15 I recognize that the composition of the diet is a problem, but I was not aware that splitting the day into smaller meals is a better choice. Now if only you guys could recommend a fruit/veggie that fits a college student's pocket (much the same way instant noodle does), I'd be set on course for a healthy life. Post your picture! Out of the range I usually consume, I'd recommend baby carrots and bags of apples. Post your picture! [v3] - KDrumz - 2013-04-15 Yorckie Wrote:Santa mierda, you look adorable and great! A calorie is a calorie in this circumstance. Your body doesn't care and burns fuel at a constant rate - not in waves. The truth is that people who spread out their meals tend to weigh less, not that they burn more calories. There is a small but significant difference between "weighing less" and "weight loss". To be more explicit, the amount of calorie intake necessary for normal physical and mental functions (not accounting for distractions caused by dreaming about donuts and pancakes) can be achieved without a stomach that feels full.
