Finally got to watch it and I don't think she'll be the main villian but I can see her joining forces with other villians as they go fixing things, also I don't get what was she trying to do, she did say it took her a while to learn the spell but for what purpose? It didn't look like she had that much power over them and I don't see she gaining anything else from doing it but then again it is a saturday morning cartoon and we all know how they love to make their villians as shallow as they can.

Starlight Glimmer was surprisingly deep for a Saturday Morning Villain. Definitely doesn't help her motives and actions can totally be seen being done by a real life person.

Only thing I can think of is that someone taught her that spell told her to get as many cutie marks/mindless drones so X could happen and she would get Y out of it.

The Y was supposedly political power, since she had a line where she said if she could get Twilight under her control then she can use her to spread her agenda. With political power usually follows fame/connections/control/money.

Wek. Too much DFO in my spare time made me fall behind on the Ponies.
Quick thoughts overall: Season 5 has been pretty based. I was worried that they ran out of steam after Season 4, but boy am I so glad to be wrong. Also Discord reminds me why he's so popular a character after that Gala incident.
