How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-02-21 http://dotabuff.com/matches/531749847 OD is hard after a point where everyone gets their bkbs. Their bkbs were more effective than mine, since until mid-late game I was major damage dealer in our team and they were preventing all of it with their bkbs. It took our carries too long to get theirs too, I remember saying get bkbs and fight... and ck didn't even finish his 20-25 minutes later xD I only regret a couple dumb deaths of mine, but it was kinda sad to lose after crushing mid hard and even ganking successfully too ![]() Also, my last buyback+gem meant no sheever's guard for me either which would've been nice... but the more I think about it wasn't the right item. Ghost scepter and later on a Skadi would've been better I feel. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-02-24 I wish Akke streamed, watching him play in tournaments is mind blowing. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - IllegallySane - 2014-02-24 I seem to swing heavily back and forth these part several days as a support in ranked games. I feed hard, or I ball hard. I WANT TO GET OF RANKED MM'S WILD RIDE! How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-02-28 I want to improve my cs skills with my most played/favorite supports and damn it's hard. Started with Rubick because I thought it would be the easiest and nope. Can't seem to get more than ~50/2x cs at 10 min... and that's in a solo lobby . Compared to the last time I tried with a ranged carry, which I managed to get 60-70 last hits in the same time, feels so bad.I'm getting used to the animation but can't seem to get the damage right, it's so damn low it's hard. UPDATE: I suck with Juggernaut. http://dotabuff.com/matches/543239899 I got outplayed, I outplayed myself. pineappleing Invoker+Doom is just unplayable, it's just too much pineappleing control from just two heroes no matter what you do. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-03-02 Just had one of the worst games ever. I've been playing captain's mode lately because people talk a bit more and picks are "better"...sometimes. We had a bad draft but that wasn't the problem, our cap picked cm, nyx, sand king and invoker and one guy says "I can't play none of those, pick me pl". Cap said he had an idea for a strong aggresive trilane so no pl was drafted and the guy ends up playing exort invoker, doesn't cast much stuff outside of forged spirits, sunstrike and coldsnap. The guy rushes necro books after his core items... and he doesn't use the summons for anything He complained about not knowing what we picked for him but what if we gave him pl? He would've sucked too because he couldn't micro at all. I mocked him a bit but I think it's mostly captains' fault that make stuff like this happen. Invoker/micro related heroes shouldn't be picked for someone else unless they tell you that they can play it. Last night we played a cm match with Chew and a friend, we could've been outdrafted as hell but for all I cared we had good picks that anyone should be able to play and we did great. http://dotabuff.com/matches/544831682 The strongest draft is the one that has the heroes players feel the most comfortable with. Also, I just banned things everyone hates, which just makes it easier on the team. I think that's how pub cm matches should be played, instead of copying pro player's draft. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Chew - 2014-03-05 The fastest stomp I've ever had ![]() I felt sorry for that invoker so I just pushed one single lane and win
How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-03-05 I too had the easiest game of my life yesterday http://dotabuff.com/matches/547593299 Not quite as fast as yours because Pugna spent the last minutes fountain diving with everyone else but me... sucks to be a melee when team just wants to fountain farm ![]() Also, Ember Spirit is the most broken pomegranate ever. Every game that has an Ember Spirit is a stomp no matter what, even with just an item or two he's damage is just stupid. Can't wait for the nerfs ._. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - IllegallySane - 2014-03-05 Words Wrote:I too had the easiest game of my life yesterday I think Ember Spirit is more of a pub stomper than anything. Competitive wise it's about 50/50. Not to mention he really rewards aggressive + mobile playing, perfect for pub stomps. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Chew - 2014-03-05 Ember spirit is just plain OP How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-03-06 http://team-ehug.com/MVvYI2C9Hv5MyAGf.pdf The only thing I can get right every time is stacking and pulling, but playing supports is really really hard to get used to. Warding is the hardest part, mostly because it's hard to coordinate what your team is going to do next. Whenever I ward aggressively, team goes into their own jungle to farm and when I ward defensively team goes aggro. Ward wars are hilarious when I manage to outsmart opponents, but it's rather frustrating when they don't have wards anywhere on the map at all and I end up wasting 200 gold. I think that the role I play the best are farming carries in either safelane or offlane because I can cs rather well; I still have trouble seizing opportunities in which it would be better to stop farming and go for team fights but I manage to make it work most of the times... While I feel so useless and clueless with support heroes, I'm never sure when to rotate, when to stop in the jungle and farm for a bit, I'm always unsure of what to do unless I'm playing Veno, Earth Shaker or some support that can go really aggressive since very early. In my opinion the only "role" that's harder than support is whoever goes mid and has to gank and control runes. Most usual mid heroes have such a hard time early with their damage and animations I just can't farm or control creep equilibrium. If it was up to me I'd play almost any carry every game but I'd prefer if I could magically improve support/mid roles overnight
How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Chew - 2014-03-06 ![]() Back to my winning streak. And since I have no classes tomorrow I'll be playing until dawn! How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - FangelXIII - 2014-03-10 Starting playing a little over a week ago. http://dotabuff.com/matches/544276889 Slardar is my favourite so far, I looove Slardar. I'm not sure why he's not more popular. I also like a bunch of other heroes like Spirit Breaker, Centaur, Jakiro, Tidehunter, Outworld Devourer But I'm finding it hard to get into some of the ranged and intelligence heroes, and have no idea how to ward or support other than warding the runes. I know it's not too important in my skill class (haven't even played 15 games yet whoops) but I want to learn as soon as possible. I've seen some videos but it feels hard to take it all in. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Words - 2014-03-10 FangelXIII Wrote:Starting playing a little over a week ago. Warding depends on how you know/feel the game is going. If you feel like like you're being ganked too often and you can't farm your jungle and lanes safely ward defensively, as in spots they're most likely to move in to gank you. If you feel like you're getting pushed too much ward in places that'll make your team defense more effective. However, if it's the other way around and you're in the aggressive you ward their jungle and/or the spots they're most likely to sit in while trying to defend their towers. I think there are too many good ward spots to remember them all at once, so just look at popular ones (I can go through that with you, should take about 5-10minutes) and after that it's all about playing more and experience which wards work depending on the situation you're dealing with. Add me on Steam if you want me to show you some of the most used wards spots. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Chew - 2014-03-10 they say OD and pudge are pretty much counters of zeus.... Yet I'm still invictus with him vs them <3 AND this was my 300th victory
How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - FangelXIII - 2014-03-11 Tried Terrorblade. Love him since I liked Shadow Demon's little illusion harrass type skill, but we lost because Tusk 2 gud. He kept going invisible so he avoided me ganking him like 5 times, and at the end I rushed to the enemy ancient with Rapier to try and win before they beat us but they had Megacreeps and reinforced the ancient and they destroyed ours before I could win since the rest of my team was underleveled and Riki ditched us. ;_; http://dotabuff.com/matches/557316654 Words Wrote:Add me on Steam if you want me to show you some of the most used wards spots. I'd really appreciate that, but it might be sort of complicated because of dumb time zones and I'm busy until super late my time and can't launch Dota 2 from where I am right now anyway and zzz. I'll try add you and figure something out when I can, if you're still open to helping me out. How was your day today? - DotA 2 Edition - Malthe - 2014-03-11 If you were playing terrorblade you should most likely not be ganking to be frank, he's a hero that farms up some core items and then just starts sieging tower after tower and murdering anyone that comes to stop him. One of the harder carries in DotA and one of the better siege heroes that just take down towers with his metamorphosis. Anytime you're ganking that's time spent not getting another item, most games terrorblade goes something like treads, drums into radiance and farms up manta-style, heart, black king bar or butterfly(There are a few other items these were just the most typical) and proceeds to murder everyone after he got one or two more core items ontop of the radiance. Obviously the item progression varies from game to game depending on what you need, it's far from locked in stone, this was just one of the more typical builds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLAYBz_-U2U This video might give some pointers, an incredibly talented player playing the hero. Maybe ganking was the wrong word? What I mean is there were plenty of times where I went up against him, either pushing or defending, and he suddenly went invisible and disappeared. I didn't purposely go out of my way to fight him when he was just wandering around. I did do some pushing, I had taken up to tier 3 bottom lane in the first 10 minutes or so. It was just when team fights started things were getting annoying due to Nyx stalking me, Legion looking for duels and Tusk blocking us in with his ice wall. Well, I'm online most of the day everyday but can only play during certain times certain days, so unless it's like 3am for me it shouldn't be that hard to find some time to do it. Regardless, from tomorrow on I'll be very busy so I might not even log on steam anymore except for the weekends. Regardless, you can use this video series to get an idea that you can improve over time:

The third part is a bit more advanced but you can take advantage of it since you'll be play against people who might not be familiar with neutral camp blocks (only useful against junglers in your case, I'd say). Ignore the counter warding part for now though, wards aren't popular when people are just starting so you will end up losing gold trying to deward stuff that ain't even there. Even in my skill rating I end up wasting gold trying to get rid of their vision... when they have none.I don't agree with some of the things he said about some spots being "terrible" or "having no value". For now, think of if as "if I place them at right time/situation, they have value". He might've missed a lot of other cool spots but you'll notice them and learn as you play and watch more and more. Try not to think too much about it and just place them how you feel would be better, time and experience will help you be more confident about it later. Overall, having any vision will help you and your team anyway, so it's not like you're losing anything if you're not doing it in the most effective way. EDIT: Another thing that might help, but takes some time, is watching pro teams play. They know all the spots, when to place them and so on; and most of the times casters will acknowledge and even comment on it so it's useful to get an idea. The most important thing to know if you're going to do this is that you can't just copy them for no reason other than "a pro did it", you need to have an idea of what they're doing, when they're doing it, against what and so on... so that you can "copy" them effectively. |
