Your Akuma is really scary, Twilight. It's almost like Ryu, but better in good ways. Also gotta get better and countering Hulk's Gamma Slam. I think I'm getting better at comboing, but still can't Advance Guard and counter Air Combos properly.

Anyways, after leaving the lobby I figured I'd try for the School for the Gifted Achievement, and got a 6 win streak in Ranked matches before losing. Feels good to get probably the least controllable achievement for this game. Biggrin

Switched up my party a little. Same people, but I've been learning their quirks. Lets see what happens.

Could I please add you guys? (Random Lurker) I got PSN, seems like it'll be fun losing to you guys lol. I don't mash buttons and nor do I consider myself a button masher, but I guess I should let you guys decide for yourselves.

EDIT: I meant "nor do I consider myself a spammer" d'oh! >.<

Just type up your PSN and we'll get to adding you soon enough.

I just started playing online. It's so fun rushing people down with C. Viper!

I'm around 8 - 2. If anyone on XBox wants in, my gamertag is LooseW.

SP community has assloads more talent than the people i've played in ranked/player matches. Still rocking the turtle Hulk, Zoning Sent, and air traffic control Akuma.

Random tip for you Zero lovers: Save that Rekouha for when you land a bounce. I saw someone liked using it a lot but it only connected once or twice.

Renting the game since mum cant buy it yet.

Uh, a bounce being like hulks standing heavy, right?

Yeah. I also believe it can follow up the end of an air combo. I'm thinking about swapping out Sent for Thor. Need to check out his zoning capabilities.

So today they should release the first 2 DLC packages, Shadow mode pack and costume pack (for Ryu, Dante, Chris, Cap America, Ironman and Thor). I take it everybody will try Shadow mode since it is free, but who will buy costume pack at 5 dollars?

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General - Kunagisa - 2011-03-01

Sparda and Iron Patriot are cool, but not worth it for me. I'll wait for them to finish making costume packs so they can make a bundle pack at the end for a fraction of the price it'd take to buy all of them.

If anybody ever pulled this crap on me...

If someone landed that on me, I'd sit back in amazement. Basically, Hsien-Ko's 11 projectiles shuffle in a constant order, frame by frame, meaning that there's a 1/11 chance of getting the star or plant if you're just trying randomly, or you're actually nailing a repeated 1 or 2 frame (depending on where the plant and star items are in relation to each other in the shuffle) link 50+ times.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General - IllegallySane - 2011-03-01

Don't worry. Went to link, and said this:

"#

this is program pad only right?
megamands 4 hours ago
#

@megamands Record/playback function, so yeah, more or less. The timing is probably a 1-frame window."

It's only in theory done with a bot-like program. It was in no way done with real human hands.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General - DarkPwnage - 2011-03-01

1-frame timings are nothing that outstanding. Top players nail 1-frame links in Street Fighter games all the time. Hell, I can do some 1-frame links about 50% of the time. A human could definitely pull it off, it's just rather unfeasable to do it 60+ times in a row (although Desk, the guy who made the Akuma infinite video, could probably do it easily).

The real problem is landing the initial star, since then you'd be dealing with a 2/11 chance of getting a dizzying item, then hit confirming that the initial star hit, then reacting accordingly by throwing another star with the proper timing. Things would be easy after getting 2 if you've practiced it enough.

1 frame links in SF4 are easy because you can plink. Try that in MvC3 and you'll get a random hyper 10/10 times.

would anyone like to fight in like 1 hourr??

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General - DarkPwnage - 2011-03-01

Plinking only works in SSFIV, and one frame links have been (and people have been successfully performing them) well before the game came out. The difficulty is certainly high, as you can't even double tap, as I'm pretty sure Hsien-Ko has a gap between when she can throw another item the earliest, and when you're supposed to throw again, but it's not undoable. I'd even wager that doing stuff like Faultless Defence canceling in Guilty Gear X was harder, which is done a little like this:

The way it worked was like this: in GGX there were four buttons, p,k,s,hs. In order to do a dust attack, you hit s+hs at the same time. So for jam (for example), to do her c.s, c.hs loop you had to do 2s, 2hs 2s+hs and then cancel that dust on the first frame with a FD (which only happened if you did 2 or 1+p+k), in order to get a dash out of that and combo you have to do 646...
2s, 2hs 1s+hs 6, 4p+k, 6
