Because the exp was nerfed to the point that they are almost similar in exp, people prefer to use HoH as their training ground for the reasons you and the others have described. I think a 1hko Luminous can average about 3-4b/hr? maybe more on 1x. So a level in about 6 hours at level 212. Obviously it's not a fair comparison but if we divide 60% by 2 and 4, that's about 2b/hr...

The new guild system enables some serious stalking. You can search for guilds by level, check out all the members, and see how much they've contributed. Speaking of contribution, W'TF? There are 3 level 25 guilds in GAZED and all of them have a single member with 10m+ contribution.

EDIT: So I had a bit of time before I had to leave, and hopped on to Evo to try it out. Pet loot indeed does not work. My pet runs over to the drops, but doesn't pick anything up.
