Though, I'm not truly interested in bulking as I am in like... trimming, I guess.I'm personally on Dat der' Cell Tech. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-08 ImagineAll Wrote:This is what I do.Cool, sounds very feasible for me--I might buy a bunch of random crap and put it in a blender and see how it goes, just for the sake of variety. The supplements I take are creatine, protein powder, fish oil caps, and BCAA caps pre-workout. Though I'm probably going to stop with the BCAAs since I don't find they do much of anything. I also take a multivitamin if that counts. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-08 365 single with almost no grind. I wanted to do a double but I already PRed twice and I was feeling tired at the top of that rep. SQUAT (work sets): 335x3 (3 rep PR) 355x1 (10lb PR) 365x1 (20lb PR) Aiming for 4 plates in the next month or two. Fitness thread - Kobe - 2013-11-09 no gym for me this weekend due to funeral plannings for my cousin my garage is pomegranate though, all there is a bench press. Completed 140lbs x 15. Calculated max is 205 pounds... please go up bench press max please, i wish i had my noob gains back. chrome nice squatting tho, i wish i had some good built up legs, but my squat only goes up to 275 pounds (max 1 rep) when i hit the gym next week i am sure i will get much better. Fitness thread - ImagineAll - 2013-11-09 Curious what kind of routines you guys do. Here's the gist of what I do:
Spoiler
I alternate days M/W/F and do HIIT (sprints) on T/Th/S Also, wow on that squat, Ben. That's really impressive, man. Congrats. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-09 ty kind sirs I don't follow a concrete program anymore. Upon recommendation from some friends on the powerlifting team, I pretty much just follow a Westside training philosophy--emphasize the big three with a volume day, heavy day, and explosive day for each lift, spread out over weeks. I've also been digesting a lot of Brandon Lilly and Dan Green seminars, so I factor their perspectives into my training as well. But, that's kind of just fancy talk for "I do whatever the hell I want". I have a pool of exercises I like to pull from on each day though.
I go to the gym 4 days a week
Fitness thread - Fiel - 2013-11-12 Today was the first day I was able to put 45 pound plates on my bench. Wheeee progress. It's addicting. Better than putting 5 points in STR in Maplestory, that's for sure. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-12 Fiel Wrote:Better than putting 5 points in STR in Maplestory, that's for sure. This is the best analogy ever. As for myself, no video, but I deadlifted 415 today. Also I lied about not journaling here anymore; TSR is too much effort. :|

My stats so far: HEIGHT: 5'9" / 175 cm WEIGHT: 167 lbs / 75.7 kg SQUAT: 365 lbs / 166 kg DEADLIFT: 415 lbs / 188 kg BENCH PRESS: 210 / 95.2 kg TOTAL: 990 / 449 kg If I bench 220 next week that will be 1000 pounds. Gooby pls... Fitness thread - Fiel - 2013-11-12 I was also sad today. I attempted a 215 lb deadlift. I was able to do it twice but I didn't have the grip strength to do the rest of the reps. I found that the bar was rolling backward into my thumbs or my fingers weren't strong enough to do the other reps but my body was definitely able to do more. I tried using a mixed grip and that helped somewhat, but my grip strength is still an issue. What do you guys recommend for this? I made the mistake of using straps for babbyweight. get straps for when grip strength seems impossible to keep up. Fitness thread - Fiel - 2013-11-12 is 215 pounds still babbyweight? At what point is it not? Fitness thread - ImagineAll - 2013-11-12 Fiel Wrote:is 215 pounds still babbyweight? At what point is it not?Yeah, basically. I would still, at this stage in the game, monkey grip the bar. Make sure the bar is securely in your hand at the beginning of each rep and to squeeze the pineapple out of it. Also, you can always reset your grip in between reps. It's not like you have to bust out all five or however many you're shooting for all at once. On your last rep hold onto the bar at the top of your lift until you literally lose grip of the bar and it falls from your hands. People may stare at you or think you're being douchie, but it's a great way to increase your grip strength. I wouldn't bother mix gripping it until you're at a heavier weight (shoot for like 250 or something). I recently just made the best $15 investment into my lifting and it has helped me a pomegranate ton. It's most insane thing ever, and I'm not sure if you guys have ever heard of it, but it's called calcium carbonate. It'll help a pineapple ton, seriously. As far as what is or isn't considered baby weight, that's all really a matter of opinion. Noob gains are typically when you're mostly building up CNS and that only lasts for so long. Generally speaking though I think a 3 plate deadlift would fall outside of "noob" status. Fitness thread - Fiel - 2013-11-13 You guys have been very helpful and motivational for me in my fitness journey. Just wanted to thank you guys for that.

Just wanted to thank you guys for that.you have much to learn, but we will help you with that. on another note. I finally measured up my supplements. my bulking shake is ready, and it is pineappleing glorious. call me mentally ill, but after a good workout, I get the sensation of the carbs filling out my muscles. I'm not entirely sure on the macros yet, just the approx calorie count. I will update with the macros in another post. bulking shake of the gods:
it is approx 1400kcal, and a boatload of carbs. I estimate ~52g protein from the whey, 35g protein from the milk and a little from the banana. 100g carbs from the maltodextrin, 40g carbs form the milk, 10g carbs from the honey, ~8g from the whey, and like 30g from the banana. no idea about fat. tomorrow, I will attempt WLW. I will be deadlifting 7 tonnes in one workout. wish me luck. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-13 Imitazion Wrote:bulking shake of the gods:damn son Honey sounds like a good idea for me. I killed two jars of fruit preserves only last week, but honey might be cheaper? I dunno. I've resorted to making bulking oatmeal instead of bulking shakes just so I don't have to buy a blender. On another note, I just decided that I am going to deadlift 500 and squat 405+ by the end of my bulk (which I'm thinking of slowing down, I dunno though. I don't want to get monster fat). It's just going to happen. Fitness thread - Imitazion - 2013-11-14 ImagineAll Wrote:Curious what kind of routines you guys do.I believe in muscle confusion. Think what you will, but I am convinced that constantly variations stimulus is optimal. The only exercises I don't alternate are deads and squats. A: Deadlift, pull ups/Chin ups , 2 types of high ROM rows, face pulls/Bent over lateral raises/reverse flies, 2 types of curls.. B: db/bb bench press, db/bb Incline press, machine/db/cable flies, dips/trap bar French press/rope push downs, Ez French press/OH straight bar push down, UH push down, db/bb military press(with db I can also do pronated grip), db/bb/plate/cable front raises and db/plate/cable lateral raises. C: squats, leg curls/still legged deadlift, leg extentions/leg press, weighted cable crunches/million other ab exercises, db/bb shrugs. This looks confusing, I know. I'm on my phone, and I used a bad way of explaining my split. I do ABCABxx CABCABx and so on. Fitness thread - Throes - 2013-11-14 I have determined that dancing with stripper shoes on is akin to training with weights strapped to your ankles. (Except perhaps with the added danger of yanno, accidentally breaking your ankles.) Once I took them off my legs felt so light and inverts/climbing/errthang felt so much easier. So I think I'm gonna do that more often.
Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-11-19 WHAT UP, DEADLIFT DAY
Tuesday morning, 11/19
Also I decided that my diet is really bad, so I tried to fix it (sort of) this morning. I've been eating all my calories at once with really calorie dense foods (pop tarts are the best carb bomb, btw), but I felt weird not eating vegetables or anything. This is what I've had throughout the morning:0640: 2 cherry Pop-Tarts 0700-0830 (during training): Bottle of Gatorade 0900-now: 4 scoops Trutein, 7 tbsp Nutella, 3 cups of frozen assorted vegetables, 8 ounces of fish, 3 cups of Kashi GoLean cereal...probably more because I have 800 more calories to cover. EDIT: 2 more cherry Pop-Tarts, 2 more tbsp of Nutella. I think that did it. Fitness thread - Fiel - 2013-11-19 After seeing some really great results in the mirror (shoulders are wider - now have that nice curve between shoulders/triceps) and seeing the better and better results from strength training, I'm deciding to increase my time at the gym starting next week. I want to start cardio and a 4-5 day split rather than a 3 day general workout. My noob gains are dyin' on me squirtle. Try the 5/3/1 Wendler workout, when your noob gains are over. |
