Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - Patt - 2013-10-26

Woo! Our group on Siren (mostly made up of ex maplers) Downed Turn 2 and Turn 3 a few days ago. We're attempting Turn 4 later today. From what I hear it's easier than Turn 2 if you have the DPS to keep up. I haven't felt this accomplished/excited in an MMO since the early days of Maple. Big Grin

Yup, turn 4 has very strict gear check for all roles. You can't get past most of the phases unless you're able kill all the mobs that pop up.

An update from me, been getting all my crafting and battle classes to 50, 2 star profits op, and my FC has turn 1-4 of coil on farm Tongue We tried out turn 5 for the first time this week and we got up to the twisters stage. I think in a couple weeks, once we get more gear, we should be able to down turn 5!

Yeah, we've only got a few hours of practice in but we think we've gotten the hang of it. We're almost able to take out phase 3 (the first dreadnought) before phase 4 starts. I think we'll down it this week Big Grin

Huh. I'm a bit late to have wandered back into Southperry to find this thread, but I do play FFXIV.

My IGN is Sugar Souffle, and my world is Leviathan.

Been slowly progressing with my FC (though we take our time with actual raid progression, and rather work on a lot of crafting and such as well, since a lot of us are holding down retail jobs during these holidays, if anyone knows what that feels like.)

We've gotten to the point where we can struggle and get through Hard mode Titan, though improvement will come over time.

I'm really glad I picked this game up. It's sad to see a lot of people having rushed to get through coil, and then get disappointed because the next content patch won't be coming out until December. I'm quite happy with the amount of content that was released. and aside from a few quality of life issues and minor gripes, (which can, and will be easily fixed) I have no real issue with the major aspects of the game.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - Flonne - 2013-12-09

Our team 1 invited me to coil 5 today, which was my first time in there...it was interesting. We made it to about halfway through phase 3, but we were solo tanking it; our DPS was definitely high enough to 4man conflags, and that's the only reason for 5 if I understand correctly. I also got to feel good about myself because I consistently matched/slightly outdamaged someone that is considered top 5 BLM on the server, as BLM. I still need 3 more i90s to be fully geared, too! I'm pretty excited for the 17th and the new extreme modes still.

I actually wasn't all that thrilled with the patch notes, lots of pointless small nerfs, a HUGE buff to monks who were already #1 dps, and a HUGE nerf to Summoner. After 2.1, if your party doesn't have at least 2 monks, the healer and tank will probably bail for coil groups in pugs at least. I don't know what the pineapple the were thinking giving monks that much, a good monk can already match 2 decent dps of any other class. Even I can't match the monk in my FCs team 1, and I am a pretty incredible BLM. Patt from this forum is in our team 1, I'm sure he can attest to how strong they already are.

Really, all I really liked in this patch were UI changes, the EX modes, and some commands added, it feels more like a QoL patch than an endgame content patch, everything but the three EX modes are well under coil, and coil is easy as hell with a halfway decent party aside from 5.

Where's the nerf to Summoner? I don't see any Summoner changes listed in the notes with the rest of the skill changes at all. There's a few positive changes, although the Virus nerf wasn't really all that necessary.

The +6% DPS with Greased Lightning III seems completely unnecessary though.

They really need to add more content that encourages not-massive-grinding-to-50 on your not first class. Levequests seem to give more EXP but I have no idea how much higher that is. It was complete garbage in the past, so I don't expect it to be much better. Almost all the content added was 40+, which sucks because I anything after like 15 is pure grind with no quests.

Thunder is no longer cross-class. That's a 15-20% damage hard nerf to SMN.
