I am still a little taken back by all the people wanting compensation for something that wasnt, for a change albeit, Nexon's fault. Yes they should extend all CS items and such 24 hours, but really why would this warrant a 2x event. I seriously doubt the power company will compensate Nexon for all the lost revenue during this time period, not to mention the added expenses for having to bring everything back up.

I will be perfectly content with CS items extensions and only CS items extensions. All the 2x events they've been shoving down our throats is getting ridiculous.

Oh well... Fair enough. But it didn't go well for everyone xD

- I agree on the no 2x event compensation. Only for the fact that when I train on 2x exp and then I don't, I lack the patience to train at a slower pace.

@Above - I logged off 5 minutes after it to go to a different character and I couldn't get on for 20 minutes afterwards. This was after I had gotten all my stuff on the character I wanted the stuff on.

The power out was not Nexon's fault.
However, the power has been up and stable for hours now, and Maple is still down.
Apparently, the crash caused severe damage to their database, which they are still trying to repair.
This *is* their fault.
Designing a database in such a way that abrupt power loss can cause it that kind of damage, and not providing the db server (or the entire server farm) with a UPS to prevent such abrupt power loss, is their fault.

As for what the electric company will or will not compensate Nexon for, I couldn't care less. It does not affect Nexon's liability, such as it is, to its own customers.

If they have backups, I'm pretty sure it would still take time to figure out which data was lost and needs to be replaced. Not to mention the time it might take to replace it all, assuming the damage is as severe as I'm imagining (it's bad).

1)What caused the problem.
2)What were the resulting side effects of this problem.
3)What was required to bring the game servers back up.
4)The problem with it being a Sunday,what kind of support staff they had to call from their homes to come in and fix this issue(s).

Now I am talking all this to be in layman terms and only a 2-3 paragraph release, nothing in depth. I think much of the hate that several people have for nexon is due to them seeming to deny or not even address several issues that have occurred in game and effected users in the past. Just the appearance of hiding something is often all that is needed.

Unfortunately this is Nexon. Nexon and logic don't go together in the same sentence.

Marty, I think you're right in that a lot of people, myself included, are tired with Nexon feigning innocence in a lot of issues. Maplestory has hackers, the game is completely full of them, yet Nexon seems determined to deny any such activity, or deal with it in a reasonable fashion (on staff GM's that patrol the game and hotspots 24/7). THAT bugs me.

I don't care.
As a customer, I am not required to sympathize with whatever hardships they are facing due to their own incompetence or cheapness or both.
I expect the service to be available whenever not announced to be down ("scheduled maintenance") or curtailed by circumstances out of their control (power out).
If they mess up and it's down more than that, they should compensate, in-game. I'm not asking for real-life money or objects. Just virtual compensation for a virtual loss. 2x, maple points, mesos, game items (cash shop or normal), etc.

As far as I'm concerned, if something goes wrong with Nexon, on the weekend, it's not gonna get a proper fix until Monday. Just the way it goes really. I'm sure there are better companies that work 7 days a week.

And if a convenience store is open 24/7 365 days out of the year, then why are there locks on the door? I am sure there are people at the desks but nowhere near the man power needed to restart the server from a crash.
