Academic's NA name is atrocious.....

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Mibs - 2012-01-30

Not going to be on for a week at least, maybe just for some Hell runs.
Maple is having 3x exp all week, so I'll be using that up 8D

Original Dragon Nest Thread - TheTempest - 2012-01-30

How long has Academic(Tinkerer) been in the data because when you're doing the quest from Dorin where you open the box to get the Ancient weapon. Then extract it and remake another, if you go under class you can see Academic on there and the 3 weapons (Cannon, Bubble Gun, and Elastic Gloves). I saw it when I made my warrior. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks for your help, guys!
And 案山子, that would be awesome.

Where in the sorc/ele tree does it talk about the damage gained on frozen targets? I thought it was shatter but that's not it.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Kevin - 2012-01-30

Nowhere. I think damage on frozen targets is always 1.5x, not including reduced ice resist.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-01-30

Freeze is 1.5x damage. It is possible to double freeze resulting in 3x damage

Attacks such as icy wind decrease ice resist. This lengthens the freeze duration.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-30

so, how would you stack freezes? icy gust -> ice cold field -> glacial freeze?

and what would be the best fire attack to use after you've stacked a bunch of freeze attacks?

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-01-31

Icy gust doesn't freeze, neither does ice cold field.

You typically want to use an ice resist reduction skill as a starter. Icy gust is usually the best option for selenas due to multi-hit and quick animation. Then you could use glacial spike for the 18% freeze chance per hit, then glacial wave for the double freeze. Ice shield works as well but as a selena you don't get that anymore.

Best fire attack atm is probably either hot rod or fireball. You probably need burning hand and a higher level vortex to match a higher leveled fireball / hot rod. Hot rod will probably better if you haven't burned the monster yet since you won't have hellfire active for the higher chance of crit on fireball. Vortex takes too long to cast and the freeze will probably have ended by then.

Of course, if you're an elestra, you follow the vid I posted.

Also, spike won't hit nearly as many times on smaller monsters so you'll rarely get that double freeze.

If you're looking for more information on freeze, look up Saurus' build on that mmosite forum.

You also need to cast -ice resist skills in lowest to highest so they stack. Otherwise you'll overwrite them.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-31

I'm guessing the 20%s don't stack with each other, but the 20% and the 33% from ice cold field do stack?

So what's the best way to set up burst then? Try to get a freeze from glacial spike then glacial freeze -> boomheadshot?

In the video it looked like he did ice cold field -> glacial freeze -> lvl50 skill -> looks like icy gust I think? -> volcanic vortex. Is that right? It's hard to tell

Kaasoljoyyx Wrote:You also need to cast -ice resist skills in lowest to highest so they stack. Otherwise you'll overwrite them.

that's kind of annoying.... the only ice attack I see with higher than 20% ice resist is ice cold field which doesn't hit melee range, while the 20% attacks are all melee range. So you would have to go into melee range, use ice gust/frozen spikes then go out of melee range to use ice cold field, then you can use a fire attack.

Does stacking all this ice resist have anything to do with your fire damage? and how do I get that DoT that does insane amounts of damage like in the video? Is that from the ulti or from another skill?

- Ice resist lowers the target's resistance to ice, which causes your ice attacks to do more damage

- If a target is in the frozen status, meaning completely frozen or they have the shards of ice on them, then all your attacks do x1.5 until it the shards go away

- The burn damage is X% of the fire attack you hit. I believe each skill has varying amounts of X%. I believe they can also stack.

Read up Saurus's guides on elementalists (mmosite). He/She has done a ton of research on them.

Alright, my char in gerrant will be ready for recreation in 4 hours (almost exactly). Was gonna make him a Mercenary and am looking for friends and a guild. Any takers? Biggrin

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Olsi - 2012-01-31

Gosh, builds in dragon nest are complicated to me lol.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-01-31

So why'd you get ice shield? Lol.

Unless you plan on being a scumbag PvP Ele.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-02-01

ladder matches ice shield is allowed so I'm going to put a point into it. I might find uses for it in PvE too

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-02-01

Ice shield allowed @ current patch

-trollface-

That's like saying block and parry stance are allowed in PvP~
