today is my only day off =(. I was leveling my ele this morning, but I guess not anymore. I still have all my nest runs to do too

I guess i'll be productive and do the hat trick event

edit - nvm the other games are down too lol

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Mibs - 2012-01-29

Huhn, I wonder if we'll get compensation. I haven't had any problems playing either. Got some nice stuff off my Manti Hell runs yesterday and made like 2k from a single run Big Grin

I should download cDN and try playing an academic while the servers are down Heart. That's a good idea. I don't know how to set it up though. I think there's a guide somewhere

Jesus, 4 hour extension. The game has been down for 6 hours at this point.

Goodbye special new year gifts for today. Sheesh, they could have at least done it tomorrow, on a weekday. I've yet to get any sort of dragon horns or whiskers from the weekend boxes.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - TheTempest - 2012-01-29

I want to get perma horns. I don't know if it's possible, but I got perma whiskers so I assume it is.

I've been playing some need for speed MMO by aeria games for the last 3 hours since the servers were down. It's pretty fun if you like those kind of racing games.

At first I thought the stuff in their cash shop was cheap. The body kits, for example, cost like 750 aeria points since they were on sale (normally 2000 aeria points). I'm thinking,

"woah, 70 cents for a body kit? This game's pretty fun, maybe I'll throw $5 at it for lulz".

Turns out, 750 aeria points is actually $7.50..... normally $20 lol, and here I thought Nexon stuff was overpriced.

DrRusty Wrote:Oh your leveling on Gerrant? I'll help ya out if I'm not doing anything. My merc is Ovadose and my acro is Ovadrive. Usually the people I help level end up quitting for some reason though Rolleyes

I've helped 3 people level so far and none of them log on anymore

Hey not fair, I didn't quit. I just got a buttload of homework to do and such. If I end up quitting you can have all my gold as compensation.

Does anyone know any guides for Warrior -> Swordmaster -> Lunar Knight? I've been Googling, but I started playing Dragon Nest 3 days ago, so it's all very confusing.

I've been to that site already... There's three different builds in one thread, and I have no idea which one to follow, which is kind of why I was looking for a recommendation.

Here's a calculator that you can use yourself.

http://dnarmory.com/skill-calc?i=1-11-24-50

Other than that, don't worry about it so much. Things will become much clearer once you actually get to use the skills for yourself. You get a free Scroll of Unlearning upon hitting Level 40. Don't worry about upgrading your attacks skills for now, just concentrate on clearing your pre-requisites for future skills and decide what to do from there.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-01-30

There isn't that many choices depending on what you want really.

Ask yourself some questions when you look at a build (typically the thread should tell what the build deviates to):
- Do you want to PvP?
- Do you like partying or would you rather solo?
- Do you want a mix?
- What skills do you like seeing more?
- Do you want pure damage or more versatility?
- Do you like range or do you like close combat?

and so on. Once you answer those questions, which build you probably want to follow becomes more clear. A lot of skills are also dependent on your preference. You'll have to simply play the game before you can really decide on that. There is a skill reset at level 15 as well as 40.

If you really have no idea what you're doing at all and have no preferences, you can just put a point into all the skills to unlock pre-req before leveling them up further. The game also provides you with a "demo" in the skill window.

Here's some of the stuff I wrote a couple pages back if you're completely new to the game.
DrRusty Wrote:Well, I don't know about a beginner's guide, but here's a General FAQ on the dnestsource forums.

http://www.dragonnestsource.com/forum/questions-answers/6584-lights-general-faq.html

As for what to do if you haven't researched or played the game at all, I guess I'll give you my general run down of stuff I wish I knew when I started.

-Your bag space is limited, so you have to learn to throw things out early. White gear is worthless unless you have nothing else to use.
-Visit a blacksmith (available in each town) to craft and enhance gear. Crafting is making gear, enhancing is making it more powerful
-Enhancing gear has a chance to make your item stronger, weaker, or even break it. Anything +6 or lower does not break. After +6 it has a chance to break
-Necklace, rings, and earrings can not be enhanced
-When starting out, you want to have a MINIMUM of all +6 gear. It's very easy to do and has a very very low cost. You'll have plenty of extra gear to try to go higher
-The 2nd way to improve armor/weapon/jewlery's power is by using sparks. It's the game's equivalent to the potential system in maple.
-To use a spark, you click on it, and drag the item you want to spark, then hit okay. It will add random stats to your item.
-The last way to become stronger is through crests. They are viewable by pressing "P" (to open up your character window) and going to crests
-Crests are items you can use that give straight stat boosts and are named via what stat they give. Ex - Fierce crests give critical damage.
-Left click to attack, right click to special attack
-Keybinds are a pain in the ass to set because you need to remove a keybind to set a bind. Ex - if I want to rebind "R" but "R" is already bound, I need to move what is bound to "R" to something else first before I can rebind it to something else.

that's all I can think of for now as far as basics go.
DrRusty Wrote:something I think should be mentioned.

Just because an item is orange (meaning it's epic) doesn't mean it's good. Always look at the stats. Green gear is actually stronger than blue or epic gear if the blue/epic gear is not crafted. You'll see things like an epic ring that's called "Stunning cobaltina ring" which is like a lvl15 or so epic ring but that ring is actually weaker than a green ring that gives physical or magical damage.

Epic gear can have better hidden abilities (sparks) than green or blue gear (which is where the demand comes from). Also, crafted epic gear is much stronger than green gear and slightly better than crafted blue gear. The catcher is that epic gear can become VERY expensive to enhance and spark and also is easier to break/harder to go higher in terms of enhancing.

I also don't think SM is a very good class to take on as your first class. They're annoying to play in PvE and have a bad rep because EVERYBODY rolls one. A huge portion of their skills push mobs around and that can tick people off pretty badly sometimes. I would recommend mercenary, paladin, or ele as your first class.

Another thing to mention, physical and magical damage are your strongest stats (depending on your class). Health is also pretty important so you want to shoot for +6.5% HP hiddens when you spark gear.

also guys... that need for speed game I'm playing.. they want 10,000 aeria points for this new car that they just released. That's $100 for a friggin virtual car rofl. Not counting the money to buy a body kit, wheels, and special upgrades.
