Here's mine =D.
No armors crafted for windswept. 4 pieces of life giving + brutal helm. My gauntlet is windswept though for the crit resist debuff. Still using a blue health plate. Waiting for one to pop up in the market with 3rd line crit.

So when I get my new laptop im gonna try this game for sure, anyone got like a beginner guide of some sorts where I could learn the basics?

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-22

Well, I don't know about a beginner's guide, but here's a General FAQ on the dnestsource forums.

http://www.dragonnestsource.com/forum/questions-answers/6584-lights-general-faq.html

As for what to do if you haven't researched or played the game at all, I guess I'll give you my general run down of stuff I wish I knew when I started.

-Your bag space is limited, so you have to learn to throw things out early. White gear is worthless unless you have nothing else to use.
-Visit a blacksmith (available in each town) to craft and enhance gear. Crafting is making gear, enhancing is making it more powerful
-Enhancing gear has a chance to make your item stronger, weaker, or even break it. Anything +6 or lower does not break. After +6 it has a chance to break
-Necklace, rings, and earrings can not be enhanced
-When starting out, you want to have a MINIMUM of all +6 gear. It's very easy to do and has a very very low cost. You'll have plenty of extra gear to try to go higher
-The 2nd way to improve armor/weapon/jewlery's power is by using sparks. It's the game's equivalent to the potential system in maple.
-To use a spark, you click on it, and drag the item you want to spark, then hit okay. It will add random stats to your item.
-The last way to become stronger is through crests. They are viewable by pressing "P" (to open up your character window) and going to crests
-Crests are items you can use that give straight stat boosts and are named via what stat they give. Ex - Fierce crests give critical damage.
-Left click to attack, right click to special attack
-Keybinds are a pain in the ass to set because you need to remove a keybind to set a bind. Ex - if I want to rebind "R" but "R" is already bound, I need to move what is bound to "R" to something else first before I can rebind it to something else.

that's all I can think of for now as far as basics go.

Alilatias Wrote:I have 100 more Vitality than you, but you match my HP and have about 20k more MP. Not to mention about 400 more magic attack plus 16% light attack.

Are all your blues enhanced to like +12 or what? I'm guessing that you probably have a Magical plate too, and you also have about 300 more Intellect than I do.

My top and pants are enhanced to +11 since they give a good amount of hp, and the rest are 9/10s. Took a while, except for a few that I got lucky with >_> I do have a rare magical plate, but only because it has a third stat of 14-14 Magic. I usually prefer using spirited over that.

And wow Rusty so close to 4k range O_O Grats on the +13!

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-22

I can easily get to 4k range, but I wouldn't have this much crit. If I changed both of my rings to destructive, I would probably be close to 4.1k. I think the crit build is stronger than focusing 100% on physical. With the +13 axe, I'm at 3811 phys range and 7.3k crit. So, I lose quite a bit of crit to gain around 120ish phys damage.

So what do I do? 120 phys damage or 1k crit?

I got an offer of 10k on the +13 axe. Thinking about selling it lol

Original Dragon Nest Thread - EarthAdept2 - 2012-01-22

Rusty already throwing around 5k+G on expensive stuff based on luck \o/. Man, dat money pool / merching.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Olsi - 2012-01-22

Think I'm gonna go with a swordsman for my first character since it seems the simplest lol, can't wait to try this game out =3. Also thank you Rusty for the information ^^.

http://forum.mmosite.com/thread/2/217/20120118/Lv60_Cap_to_be_released_in_June-4f17c34aed3c87b13-1.html

Level 60 cap confirmed... To be released in KRDN sometime before/during June.

I CAN'T [CENSORED] WAIT THAT LONG, WE'LL HAVE 50 CAP BY THEN.

T_T

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-23

something I think should be mentioned.

Just because an item is orange (meaning it's epic) doesn't mean it's good. Always look at the stats. Green gear is actually stronger than blue or epic gear if the blue/epic gear is not crafted. You'll see things like an epic ring that's called "Stunning cobaltina ring" which is like a lvl15 or so epic ring but that ring is actually weaker than a green ring that gives physical or magical damage.

Epic gear can have better hidden abilities (sparks) than green or blue gear (which is where the demand comes from). Also, crafted epic gear is much stronger than green gear and slightly better than crafted blue gear. The catcher is that epic gear can become VERY expensive to enhance and spark and also is easier to break/harder to go higher in terms of enhancing.

I also don't think SM is a very good class to take on as your first class. They're annoying to play in PvE and have a bad rep because EVERYBODY rolls one. A huge portion of their skills push mobs around and that can tick people off pretty badly sometimes. I would recommend mercenary, paladin, or ele as your first class.

Another thing to mention, physical and magical damage are your strongest stats (depending on your class). Health is also pretty important so you want to shoot for +6.5% HP hiddens when you spark gear.

Edit - I sold my +13 axe for 10k =P

Since when was Swordman bad at PvE? LOLOLOLOLOLOLO. If anything I find other classes pushing my mobs away when I'm trying to do runs in a party, like Mercenary. Mercenary is full of skills that knock enemies high into the air, or spread them apart. Swordsman really only has Triple Slash that does it. Paladin is by far the worst starting character to play as by the way. Paladin is the most tedious class to level up.

Swordsman is a perfectly valid starting character. It's fast, powerful, mobs well, combos well, etc. Swordsman used to get a bad rep because of PvP, back in the Lv24 cap, when people would choose Swordsman to try and excel in PvP. That's why tons of shitty Swordsman builds were being used, because they tried to cater to PvP, and that led to seeing Swordsmen all over with cookie-cutter builds and crap-tastic crests. I don't hear pomegranate about them anymore. I'm pretty sure there are more users of every other class compared to Swordsman.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-24

I didn't say they were bad. I said they were annoying to play in PvE. The way their moves work throw you into the middle of a group of mobs and pushes them everywhere. I stopped playing my SM, my friend (who just started 2 weeks ago) dropped his lvl 40 SM to play an ele instead, and

Quote:After playing both SM and Merc I feel way more comfortable playing a Merc, but I like using swords more than axes/hammers. Frown
I guess I can wait for a nice Dragon Vault weapon to come out and use that.

I guess TheTempest feels that way too.

He can roll whatever class he wants, I'm just throwing out my own opinion. I don't like playing SM, and I don't recommend it to anyone else. I've played SM, acro, merc, ele, and SS to at least LvL32 and SM I liked the least.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Olsi - 2012-01-24

Ya think im gonna go ele now =P looked pretty neat paladin looked neat too but ill wait those for later along with warriors. Might go with an archer acrobat type thing.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-24

It's really fast up to level 32 now, you could try a couple different classes to like 24 or so to see what you like.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Mibs - 2012-01-24

So the NA version of DN is trying to roll out a new level cap every 2 months or something? I'm not even close to ready for the 50 cap yet, but what new nests does it introduce?

Original Dragon Nest Thread - Olsi - 2012-01-24

Darn it was getting very anxious and tried to download on my old XP and it said the file would harm the computer, how poopy.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - JPTheMonkey - 2012-01-24

Hmm, I came back after CBT to work on the Hat Trick event, and was interested in DN again. I think I'll be rejoining in a week once I can remake this character of mine on Gerrant. Stinking 7 day waits on character deletion...

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-25

There's a boss event going on this week just FYI.

http://dragonnest.nexon.net/news/news/00DX9/the-nesting-instinct-event?page=1

You have to clear mino 5 times, cerb 3 times, and manti/apoc once each. They're giving out manti/apoc craftin mats Biggrin. I might start crafting the set if the prices drop low enough.

I'd only craft the 3 piece though. I probably won't be shooting for the 5 and 7 set bonuses.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - raizoo - 2012-01-25

Wait, what. SM are pretty OP. Why do you think they had to buff Mercs up?
Alilatias Wrote:I CAN'T [CENSORED] WAIT THAT LONG, WE'LL HAVE 50 CAP BY THEN.

Really hoping archers get some sort of re-make around then. Smashers too.

At least my school stuff will be finished by then so I can have time to play and get to 50.... And then we'll have supah overgeared people as we wait for lvl 60, lol. AND HOPEFULLY I CAN DECIDED BETWEEN ARTILLERY AND SNIPER.

That's why I'm whining about the 60 cap being released that much later. Unless they start testing this thing several months in advance, we're going to end up with 50 cap before we know anything about our level 60 skills.

I truly hope that I don't regret going Saint.

Original Dragon Nest Thread - DrRusty - 2012-01-26

I'm 5 points away from being top 10 ladder players on Gerrant =(

edit - nvm top 10 now Heart
