I doubt she really turned against him, I have a pretty strong feeling that it's just a ploy. But then I wonder if Kuvira can detect lying or, if she can, if it's shrouded by her ego.
Spoiler
Maybe, but based on Zhu Li's reaction after Varrick saved her and told her she needed to clean up, and after they got captured, I wouldn't be surprised if she really did get fed up.

Spoiler
I wouldn't be surprised either, but it looked as if Zhu Li freaked out as soon as it was stated that she and Varrick would get separated.
That fight went just about how I expected it to. They finally cured Korra's physical ailment but obviously not her mental state.
Zhu Li is definitely still on Varrick's side. I would be very surprised if it turns out her betrayal was real, especially after the beginning of Episode 5 where they almost made out after he saved her.
Ain't really a spoiler here what I'm about to say. Mostly the overall reaction to a character this season. And yes I've been watching Korra but never felt like posting in this thread until now.
Baata Jr. really ticks me off. He's got his head so far up Kuvira's ass it's unbelievable. He thought he was stepping out of his father's shadow, but he's such a whipped beta to Kuvira it's pathetic. What I'd love to see is his ego getting completely burned before the finale. Can't even begin to imagine how he'd ask for forgiveness after what he's done to his family.

Prediction
Fifty bucks says he has a "revealing moment" from either something totally insane Kuvira does, or from something either Opal or Korra says to him by Episode 11 (or both).
And also, considering the state of things after the last episode, I expect we'll see more of Toph before the end of the season, even though she's in exile/self enlightenment/whatever.

Spoiler
Maybe he becomes mad after he uses a WMD against people.
Maybe he becomes mad after he uses a WMD against people.
Spoiler
I really hope it doesn't come to that. He already seems so apathetic about the well-being of people. I seriously think the writers are doing their best to make him as unlikeable as possible.
Saw this on a Tumblr post.... where is the lie though?
Spoiler
This is something that has really irked me for a week now, but I hate that in avatar when Korra is facing off against Kuvira, she can’t even land ONE blow. Correct me if I’m wrong, and I know that she’s a “little rusty” and Kuvira is at the top of her game, but by now despite that, I expect season four Korra to have put up SOME type of a fight—and I absolutely didn’t expect her to beat Kuvira now at all, but to have been utterly dismantled by her is just such a let down.
I just feel like Korra struggles way too much until the very end of each season, and that is not realistic at all. Like, Korra is clearly the biggest threat to Kuvira, and I expected her to have thrown Kuvira a little off her game and make her struggle in ANY way, but to have Kuvira completely toss her around like a rag doll gives Kuvira no real reason to want to train and try to be better for the final fight as well—which allows more development and humanization for Kuvira. I love Kuvira as a villain, she represents the modernization and development of the world, and I expect more for her from the writers………..
And I hate that the only way Korra was able to be somewhat in control of the fight was when she entered the avatar state, which is basically saying she went from 0 to 100, whereas when Aang did it, he went from like 80 to 100…it basically means that Korra the human is a pointless character, and anytime I feel like she’s made any progress, she basically falls flat.
I’m just ready for the earth kingdom/empire avatar already.

I can't disagree with the majority of that post, but...
Quote:she went from 0 to 100, whereas when Aang did it, he went from like 80 to 100
To say that Aang went from an 80 to a 100, especially during the Osai fight, is severely overvaluing his non-Avatar State form in addition to undervaluing his Avatar State. I'd say it was more like from a 50 to a 100.
But otherwise I really agree with that post. Korra got completely devastated and it made no sense. It's one thing to have that ending of the fight for her, and another thing to make her utterly pathetic and useless and then still freeze at the end. Right now you'd think she never trained at any point ever and couldn't fight a squirrel.

Okay, perhaps not 80 to 100, but it still is a substantial increase. However, Aang's biggest barrier usually was his reluctance to actually fight using more offensive maneuvers. That barrier was usually removed in the Avatar state.
But yeah, I don't understand why Korra keeps getting her ass handed to her in every fight. Someone tried to argue that it was just the progression of bending, that it just isn't as creative anymore. I can see that to an extent, however virtually everyone else outside of Team Avatar is a creative bender. Bolin, Mako, and Korra are just uncreative benders in a world where everyone else is still creative.
I think it would've been okay for Korra to lose, but not nearly that badly.

She definitely was going to lose. I knew that was going to happen from the start of the fight. But how she lost is just plain dumb.
And I agree...our main characters are just stupidly conventional. They have nothing to make them unique. Even Korra just fights like a combination of every generic soldier bender in the show. Mako doesn't even lightning bend...ever. He did it once last season, and by pure chance accidentally. It's so dumb.
Bolin might be better off with lavabending, but before then he was a VERY generic earthbender.
This episode was great. Toph is definetly going to appear again. Bolin fighting scenes were simply AWESOME. His lava bending is pretty darn good and allowed him to fight 3 of the tanks. I'm really glad he got such a boost. And nice to see Korra get at least a tracking upgrade, will be nice to have her 100% back soon enough.
Is anyone else actually starting to like Wu a bit?
I think he's really funny and it's obvious that he is growing/has the potential to grow by hanging around Mako and the rest of the group, especially in this clip from the next episode:

He acknowledges that he is a burden and resolves to toughen up, even though he accepts that he was "born that way", he also takes an interest in Mako as a person instead of just his bodyguard.
He's getting a surprising amount of character development, it's just a shame there isn't more time to flesh out his character.
