Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword [SPOILERS] - CommanderJinn - 2011-11-21

Don't really want to bring this up again, though I think it's an important point.

Destructoid recently added an addendum to their review of Skyward Sword (9.5) explaining why that .5 was deducted. The gist of it was because it alienates some who would greatly prefer standard controls over motion controls and therefore can't be called a perfect game as it does not universally attract everybody. That's not the thing that struck me though. It's actually this one paragraph:

Destructoid Wrote:

According to certain reviews, the game's motions controls have clearly taken at least one person out of the game. Now, as the video from TheBitBlock above clearly demonstrates, to fault the game's controls for your inability to play it properly is an inaccurate assessment. That would be like giving a bad review to a perfectly good basketball because, every time you try to get it in the hoop, it bounces off the backboard. Good reviewers would know when it's their fault, not the game's, for their inability to enjoy it. That's often not true of reviews of motion-controlled games. A lot of reviewers fail to understand that if a motion-controlled game works some of the time, then that means that it would work all the time if they were playing it properly. I could go on about that topic, but I'll save it for another time.

Just found that tidbit interesting from a reviewer's point of view.

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword [SPOILERS] - Remoir - 2011-11-21

Ive played 1 hour tonight. Very enjoyable and i really like how they have made more of an interaction between link and zelda this time around.

Also on the subject of motion controls, am i doing it wrong if i try to cut some grass and it just blows instead of cuts? or am i just not close enough to cut it?

I think you would have gotten a better deal if you bought the special edition package. Comes with a wii remote plus, and the game, for 70 bucks. I think wii remotes are normally 40 bucks by themself or something?

There's no rule against saying you downloaded something, you're just not supposed to provide links.

Though no one is going to be impressed by your thievery. Even your conservative brethren are looking down on you right now.

I have not played those games, though I have heard and seen much about them. I am however almost positive they are much much more similar to each other than Skyward Sword is to Twilight Princess. TP was a shiny semi-clone of OoT though.
