2 of the pokedexs (there are 3 for different parts of kalos in the game) are almost completely leaked, and had something like 25ish new pokemon in each. Unless the last one is completely stuffed with new pokemon (unlikely), then yeah, it is confirmed Sad

Black 2 and White 2 had absolutely no new pokemon at all, and it was still one of the most enjoyable pokemon games ever in my opinion. Know why? because of the VARIETY of pokemon available.

This game looks like that on steroids.

I really don't care if there are only 70ish new pokemon. A lot of them are super cool, we now have Mega Evolutions and some pokemon got a new lease of life with the Fairy type.

I disagree. I thought black/white 2 is the closest the main games have ever gotten to cheap cash in.

The plot was, the gameplay however was fairly solid.

This game has a new plot, new pokemon, new mechanics, a whole new graphical design.

70 pokemon isn't that bad when you consider we got mega-evolutions and Fairy retypings too.

Besides, Black 2/White 2 were sequels to Black/White, they weren't the of an entire new Generation of Pokemon.

Maybe the number was reduced since it's cause you can supposedly "catch 'em all" in X/Y, but still. I'm not in that demographic. Aside from a few select Pokemon from each Generation, I tend to stop caring about previous Pokemon in previous Generations once a new one comes out, because I like all the new stuff. And if it is true that there is barely over 70, from what we've learned so far, to me personally, most of these new Pokemon (excluding Mega Evolutions) are really mediocre. The beauty of having over 150 each Gen was then I could scoot those mediocre ones aside and enjoy the ones I really like; test them in battles, check them out, evolve them, etc. With so few new Pokemon, my pickings are quite slim. Just a little disappointing to me.

But, that doesn't mean I'm not still gonna play the pomegranate out of the game and enjoy it. Just saying that a plethora of new Pokemon is literally like the biggest thing I look forward to each Generation.

As regards to topic of 70 new pokemon, I would say that I prefer quality over quantity. While there were a decent amount of pokemon I liked, there were some that were (at least to me) unlikable (Durant, Heatmor, Beheeyem, Stunfisk, and Ferrothorn just to name a few). I recall Junichi mentioning that it becomes more and more of a challange to create new pokemon with 'new, refreshing concepts'. And after creating 649... most likely everyone can see why. That being said, if Gen 6 can provide decent pokes to the board, then it's all the better for me.
