I do like homestuck, but the official forums intimidate and scare me at times, ergo why i don't visit it much, ergo why i don't know anything about potatoes.

Why would they scare you? They're pretty much the ones giving Hussie ideas as well as material to use to troll the fandom. Besides, they're fans like you and me, and without them Homestuck wouldn't have so much fan material and presence.
