Ask a Thief Thread. - Mejust - 2009-06-10 It got stickied today =) Ask a Thief Thread. - DeviantSteve - 2009-06-11 Haha Congrats, alright, keep policing that bandit section, you're definitely best fit for the duty. Ask a Thief Thread. - kingdj333 - 2009-06-11 Quick Question: Does level 1 vemon really help? or should it be higher? does vemon work on bosses? like Pap? Ask a Thief Thread. - zOrpheus - 2009-06-15 Newbie shadower here with a few questions: Is assassinate a ground-only attack? (Like Boomerang Step and a majority of archer attacks.) How does Ninja Ambush work? Is it actually a "trap" or is it an on-the-spot mobbing attack? And finally, should I delete Pickpocket, Double Stab and Disorder from my key configuration? Thanks in advance. Ask a Thief Thread. - Stereo - 2009-06-15 kingdj333 Wrote:Quick Question: I think it helps, with level 1 venom on a Newtie I've seen it do 10k+, and it usually ticks twice before they die (I 4hko them pretty consistently). When I go to Nightshadows, even though they have a bit less HP, they take longer to kill since they're poison-immune. It's useful in the tornado corridor because if you jump and attack a windraider on the platform above you, you'll tele up to that platform. Double stab is 100% useless once you get SB. Double Stab does what, 280% total, which SB does 480%. DS is slightly faster, but not enough. Disorder is also pretty useless. The drop in weapon def. isn't worth it. In fact, you shouldn't even have this skill. The other 1st job skills are much more useful. More avoid/ accuracy is always good, and max Dark Sight is needed because then there's no moving speedreduction. Pickpocket is useful as long as you have it, I guess. I'd keep it somewhere on a macro/keyboard. Ask a Thief Thread. - Dusk - 2009-06-15 Kabanaw Wrote:Double stab is 100% useless once you get SB. Double Stab does what, 280% total, which SB does 480%. DS is slightly faster, but not enough. I disagree, DS is still useful in 2nd job. It's quite a bit faster and it's not like you have a lot of options to worry about anyway. After you get to 3rd job you get BoT and Assaulter and it's not worth choosing when you're going to use Double Stab for the speed but in 2nd job you only have SB so you might as well use Double Stab when SB isn't needed. Ask a Thief Thread. - zOrpheus - 2009-06-15 I meant Assassination* sorry. I can't tell from Shadower videos whether it can be activated in mid-air or not, since finishing attacks are almost always jumped with a forward momentum to reach another mob (pack) faster, usually with the start of the attack near the ground. Yes, Double Stab was still somewhat useful in 2nd job. It could be used as a finisher when the enemies HP is low enough, saving a small amount of time which SB would waste. It also has a 140% damage multiplier - slightly useful for mobs that can't be KB'd with SB's 80% multiplier. I also used it against Water Goblins (?) in Zipangu, comboing it with a weak-leveled assaulter since I couldn't kill them in one SB, to move to the next (faraway) mob. (DS was jumped w/ forward momentum.) I'll just drop Double Stab from my configuration then - there are probably even more limited usages of DS in 4th job. The reason I had Disorder as a CB was because of it's awesome un-aggroing effect. It could also be used to keep bosses attention on my CB as opposed to the boss running rampant on my ranged party members. (Effectively acting as a decoy.) It can also un-aggro unwanted attention. For these reasons, is it worth keeping Disorder on my configuration? Pickpocket is evolving into more of a show-off skill - it's only great when all the enemies are lured to the same mass of coins. And even then, it deals mediocre damage due to the enemies position and how far apart the coins are from each other. Although, with the right conditions, it is still somewhat damaging... The coins can also hit below your current platform if you're fighting flying enemies (Typhons), effectively luring them. (There's no other move has a definite downward hitbox) It also mobs at a bigger range, although Boomerang Step pretty much has more or less the same range. BS has delay, so ME'd PP coins can be used if there's leftovers. Should I keep PP on my config or is it a complete hindrance (to buff) as a Shadower? Eh, I stopped using it when SB did more damage. When I was training from 50-70, if a monster had only a bit of HP left, I would just whack it and it would die. It doesn't seem like it would be worth using DS since SB can be spammed. I did use DS up until 4x since I maxed SB after mastery. But since then, I haven't even touched it. DS is still a viable option as a finisher when a plain attack won't kill it. It's a faster move and costs less mp, so training perfectionists and people who are really low on cash might appreciate it. But I'd say that simply one more SB is fine, too. Ask a Thief Thread. - DARKS1M - 2009-07-11 What do NLs usually equip for a face/eye accessory? I never bothered to learn what they were because they were too expensive (and still are). Can you equip one of each or are they the same thing? Ask a Thief Thread. - Firehuntah - 2009-07-11 DARKS1M Wrote:What do NLs usually equip for a face/eye accessory? I never bothered to learn what they were because they were too expensive (and still are). Can you equip one of each or are they the same thing? I'm not a NL, but I can answer this for you. :p You can equip both an Eye accessory and Face accessory. They use different equipment slots. There's only 2 good Eye accessory's at the moment, which are the Broken Glasses (1 to all stats on avg) and Spectrum Goggles (2 str 1 dex on avg if I remember right). It would be cheaper to get Broken Glasses, but you can't trade them between characters if you use more than one character. Unless you want to use Scissors of Karma every time of course. :p As for Face accessory, there's a few more options. But the cheapest would be either a Branch Nose or a Rat Mouth. There's also those Masks, but they're very expensive. Clean they have no stats, but you can scroll them with Face accessory for avoid scrolls which gives 1 dex and some avoid. Hope that helped you. xD Ask a Thief Thread. - Punch - 2009-07-11 I'm confused on what to be... A Dexless? LowDEX? Or Normal Night Walker? I really don't have great equips... But I do have DEX equips from my Level 7x Brawler. I'll tell you them: +3 DEX Red Sneakers (so dam ugly) +10 DEX Bathrobe +2 DEX Spieg Necklace +4 DEX Green Napolean +3 DEX Green Bamboo Now that I realize it, my equips are shiet aren't they? Advice please? I have about 70m in total... what should I buy? And how much should I keep? Ask a Thief Thread. - DARKS1M - 2009-07-11 Thanks Firehuntah! I will now aim for a 5 dex face accessory. I'd sell all your equips and go normal dex, personally. The same applies to dexless if you want to do that since dex equips are useless to dexless anyway. |
