That looks beautiful. Hopefully there's no lag.

Why would there be? It's looks like a straight rip of the background from Uprising when pit was flying through it in that game

I wonder if villager can control the arrows like pit can. Probably not. He would otherwise COMPLETELY invalidate his camp game, and it looks like he can capture an arrow and throw it back before pit can fire off a second one. Might only work at certain ranges though.

Also i wonder if items he picks up and throws back have increased damage like caped/shined projectiles do.

You have literally nothing to base this off of. It's a picture, it's just as easy he thought the picture was cooler to draw (and hold) another arrow on pit for the image.

Okay.

It at least results in a trade. Whether he can return it before after or at the same time (first and last seem likely given the frame data regardless of what you say) the arrows don't seem to be able to clash (assuming no directional inputs) due to difference in height. Villager still wins.

BWAHAHA. WOW.

That was my first reaction. I really didn't care much for the subspace emissary...but instead of taking the time to fix what was wrong with it (tediousness, lackluster environments, etc), they scrap it and cutscenes "people uploaded the cutscenes online." I don't get it. I really don't. That said, I'm perfectly fine with this if they bring back Adventure mode!

I'm really tired of hearing bad news about this game. I think the best thing I've heard that I can remember is that the gameplay is a little faster than brawl's :|

While sad, I'm pretty much over this already. It's been known for quite some time already.

I'm guessing I had a senior moment, because now that you guys mention it, I do seem to recall hearing something about it. It's all fuzzy though.

I am actually glad they decided to scrap the Subspace. I mean, I understand that this is a great way to introduce the characters, but the way they delivered it was a bit sloppy imo. I hated how I had to get pretty late into the story just to unlock my favorite characters. However, I do hope they find a replacement for this as the subspace was basically a godsend for casual players.

This also might be a bit off-topic, but does anyone here still play Brawl competitively? I myself, still play from time to time and I consider myself pretty decent (not trying to sound too egoistic). If anyone's interested in a few matches with me, hit me up with a PM.

Looks like DK is being molested. Where's the speech bubble where he screams rape?

You had to get into the story pretty late just to unlock your favorite characters, but I quite fondly remember it taking a ridiculous amount of time dedication and a lot of repetition to unlock some characters in Melee. Mewtwo alone required 20 hours in VS or 700 VS Battles. Instead, any time you lost your data or started new data in Brawl, you could rush through SSE in 6-8 hours (Less if you're good and on Easy) and unlock every character in the game. In terms of unlocking characters, I find Brawl's method vastly superior. Plus, SSE was pretty fun in my opinion.

Also, how was it sloppy? Were you saying it was sloppy because you had to "get pretty late into the story just to unlock [your] favorite characters"? That's not sloppy, honestly, it's progression. Sloppy is what you had to do in Melee, either repeat the solo modes a hundred times over, or repeat the VS Mode 700+ times. Repetition to the complete and utter max. It seems like that's what we have to look forward to in SSB4.

I find most of the hate against SSE unfounded. Some of the things said earlier in this thread are acceptable, but none are any reason to completely scrap it, and the reason given by Sakurai is beyond the dumbest reason to ever be given.

I've never had a chance to play through Melee thoroughly since I didn't own a copy, but the way you described the process of unlocking ONE character makes me want to retract my current feelings on subspace... I do appreciate that they tried to improve the story mode, but I personally just like to have all my characters/stages presented up front.

After reading the Kotaku article, I think Sakurai is just trying to make SSB4's release a more smoother one than when Brawl came out in saying that relatively lame "excuse" for it being scrapped. SSE's lengthy development may have been to blame partially for the delay of Brawl which caused many to become upset, so I guess he just decided to cut it this time around for a more direct release. Just speculating here now.

Subspace was infinitely better than the bullpomegranate melee way of unlocking characters. Play 20 hours to get mewtwo or play through the same mode with 24 times to get game and watch was retarded.

And then you got other dumb crap like having to end with a 2 on the timer to get luigi.

How anyone can consider that better than a story mode baffles me.

Even if you don't like it, you're always going to have to unlock the characters in some order, regardless of a story mode or not, subspace just made it a ton quick, while adding something extra on top of everything else.

(And I apparently need to stop writing a post, then leaving it for hours before I hit submit).

And it would be so darn easy to fix subspace too: Make the stages nintendo themed instead of generic and add enemies from nintendo games. Don't make us replay every level again before we can fight the final boss. Bam, all done.
