Lylac Wrote:<Katee> Alysha, you have no right to tell me what to do. Plus, why do you moderate out of your sections?
First of all, if one of the admins wanted you to moderate other sections, they would've given you the proper permissions to do so. I have given three infractions (maybe four) that were out of my section; the first one was by accident and I didn't realise the warning was given out in a forum I didn't moderate, and the second was given to test if you could give out infractions outside your assigned forums. The only reason you're handing out infractions outside your assigned forums was because I told you regrettably that you could. Generally, I wouldn't care if someone impartial to users warns another outside of their assigned forums, but let me be blunt (and I don't mean to cause discord); I do not trust your moderating capabilities, and this is a sentiment shared by many other users, both admin/mod and normal users. You have tendencies to show bias towards or against certain users and let your emotions get the best of you. This really shouldn't happen when you're given the power to moderate users and posts.

iiMarik Wrote:Excuse me? You're going to attack me in the moderating forum? I honestly don't care what you think of me, you're no 'inspiration' either. It's true I'm a beginning moderator but, this, I'm just speechless of my behalf. Paul has told me to keep working harder and I have been. I usually check the rules before I do anything out of my section. I was given permission, so who do you think you are that needs to be impressed by people?
If you want to have a good reputation with people, re-consider your acts because really, I've never seen anything like this on any other forum - especially when I hear it from my friends.
I've told Paul I'm not going to come on as much for a while because you have truly shattered any respect I have for you.

Lylac Wrote:It wasn't an attack, it was criticism. Your post proves my point. I generally don't post when I lock threads or when I warn users, so you can't really have an opinion on me because we hardly know each other, but I've seen what you tend to post on the forums. A reputation on the internet is useless if it's not meant for a resume spot.
"so who do you think you are that needs to be impressed by people?"
I'm not sure what you mean by this. A moderator doing his/her job correctly doesn't impress me, that person is just doing a duty. Also, there are only a few people I can call friends on the internet.

iiMarik Wrote:Like I said, who are you to have to be impressed by people? Your no king and I wouldn't go around making a thread to offend you. 'Alysha, I do not trust your moderating capabilities,' yeah, I wouldn't get around saying that, seeing how utterly offense it is.
No one needs to impress you. And I'm sure no one tries to anyway.
Flowsion Wrote:WOWW pomegranate DAMMNNNNNNNN dont TKE THAT pomegranate MAN
Lylac Wrote:I thought I already stated that no one needs to impress me. Anyway, that was my opinion, or would you rather I take out that part and leave everything else intact? My opinion can be inferred if I took it out, anyway. You're right, I am not a king; I never said I was. This is a very simple request, really.

Could I get some form of background information, unlike Trunks and co I can't view your PMs and spy on you. (Or shoot lasers out of my eyes... But I think only Fiel can do that.) Of course, this is assuming this evolved from a PM.
(In which case it kinda maybe should have stayed that way... maybe.)

Flowsion Wrote:Alright, seriously though because this is actually important and there shouldn't be animosity between the staff members: This is being blown out of porportion because of the inability to handle both your jobs properly. There's a conflict of interests and personalities and being able to handle that should be what staff members do. You are both part of a team and you are both mature enough to take the heat and improve yourselves.
Katee: You should stop moderating outside of your section. There is a reason that that you are a moderator and not a global moderator. You are assigned to certain sections and should moderate those only. You can report posts that are outside of your section and another moderator will take a look at it. You can alternatively ask Fiel for more power if that's what you wish for. However, at this time, you are not a global moderator! You should listen to what Alysha is saying as there's merit in her reasons and questionings of your practice. You're at fault here.
Alysha: You should let Fiel deal with it once you've reported it to him. It's probably frustrating to see her moderate outside but it's unecessary to continue. Fiel should talk to her. Ya, he probably told you to create this and it's good you didn't do it in public.
Katee, you're not the best mod around. You have faults and if I was to be perfectly honest I would not have chosen you as a mod. You seem like the person that would be active on a forum but never chosen because you were too spammy. However, you are a mod and that's that. I'm not saying it's impossible for you to change, you should learn from other moderators (experienced ones such as Alysha) and take her advise and improve yourself. You can become a good moderator as long as you aren't offended by every piece of advice given.
Magus Wrote:Nothing? You need to tell me when you're going to shift from overly funny to serious. :<
Anyway! I just re-read that and I see what you did with the first line.
Uh.. I had something similar typed up, but it seems Trunks beat me to it.
I can't say anything that wouldn't sound redundant.
iiMarik Wrote:Very well then. I shall stop.
Though I doubt anyone having this posted about them would not be hurt.
If that's all you ask, simply tell me, a PM would've been fine, not all this drama.
If any admins wish to de-mod me, feel free to do so.

IsaacGS Wrote:alright, here's what I think about this, I talked a little about this before hand so I'm gonna try to restate what i've already said, publicly.
Kate, you need to reflect on why you were chosen for this position. You're in charge of the writing section, and you've done a great job in getting that section up and running. But, there's a reason you are on that section only. The best way to prove to them that you can be a good mod is to do what you're assigned well. You've got a great start, don't throw that away rashly. Deep breaths, calm down, and think long and hard. I strongly encourage you to reconsider.
This could probably have been handled better but I know a lot of the staff is still getting the hang of leading and this is just one of the things we must learn to deal with if southperry is going to succeed in the long run. I don't know what went on behind the scenes in PMs or on IRC between you two so I can't be sure how it happened. I know that Alysha contacted multiple people before it came to this. Most of us were unsure of what to do or unwilling to do something about it immediately and it came down to this. It's just one of the mistakes we must learn from.
Fiel Wrote:I told iiMarik she could moderate outside of her own section upon viewing that Alysha was moderating outside of her sections as well.
I told Alysha to take her complaint to the moderation boards, so that we can ALL discuss this since this is a matter that affects the entire moderation team.
Unfortunately, vBulletin does not have the innate system where local moderators are restricted to a specific board. Local moderators have the ability to moderate ALL boards.
I did put Marik in charge of the Shady Tree, but she is a moderator as well. If she sees a post that needs moderation, what better person to do it than a moderator? It saves everyone some time, rather than having Marik go through the trouble of marking a post and waiting for others.
Furthermore, the system put in place allows for some interesting methods of appeals. For example, a person gets moderated. That person can appeal to the moderator that moderated him. If that gets denied, he can appeal one rank up to global. If he gets denied there, he can appeal once more to an admin. Yada yada. You get the idea. In a sense, this changed "local" mods to "Lower" mods and "global" mods to "upper" mods. Then, upper mods can also have a small expansion of power to boot.
Kate, I noticed you mentioned stepping down as moderator. If you wish to take this action, that's entirely up to you. You do have that power according to the R&R.
Furthermore, Kate, you really need to learn to separate yourself from your job performance. They are not the same thing. Some people here are saying that they wouldn't have picked you as a moderator or that you're not a good moderator. So what? Prove 'em wrong. You need to stand up for yourself.
Also, Alysha, you do need to calm down on the brutality a bit. Not every post on the forums, especially ones that involve moderation, require harsh replies.
iiMarik Wrote:So what, am I going to moderate outside my section or not? Or will I have this pumpernickel storm of peaching everytime that happens.
e.g.
Yes, there is something called job performance, but when you get a thread just attacking you, let's see where the boundaries go there. This thread is basically bashing on me telling me: 1.I suck at moderating. 2. I suck at moderating. 3. I suck at moderating. 4. I'm spammy.
Yay.
Fiel Wrote:No, we'd continue to discuss it as a team. We are a moderation team after all.
You think I haven't had threads or PMs attacking me? I get them all the time, especially when I'm leading Southperry. I just have to learn to separate the person's anger and what that person really wants to say.
And Kate, you're proving my point here. People are talking about your moderation abilities, not you. They're not "bashing on you". Furthermore, the point of this thread is if a local moderator can "warn outside of his or her assigned forums", not whether Kate sucks or not. Just look at the thread title. You were merely the example, not the purpose of the thread.
Kate, I'm going to request that you step down from your moderation position due to taking constructive criticism far too personally. I don't believe that our relationship as Southperry staff members is beneficial for either of us, as the moderation staff here cause undue stress to you and you cause undue stress to the staff due to the aforementioned characteristic.
iiMarik Wrote:Do what ever you wish.
Lylac Wrote:This isn't a thread attacking you. I'm also at fault for having warned outside my assigned forums. If I wanted more forums to moderate, I would ask Fiel. I asked you in the reporting forum to just leave it to other mods, then you PMed me on IRC and tried to make it personal when it isn't. You are a nice person, just that there are some faults with you and with many other people as well that shouldn't be expressed when you're moderating. You are a beginner mod and there's always room to improve.
