What's causing all the inflation? - LeJoueur - 2009-07-06 xBTAx Wrote:I'm a level 57 slinger with less than 20mil. I've probably done all the quests that give rewards like that. I have barely enough NX for a 1 week store, and I'm not using that till we get maker because I have 100 diamonds to sell. worse thing could have happen, and i'm surprised it has not happen yet: people generating max meso by the whole FM and delete their char rinse repeat : that's what i would have called real chaos What's causing all the inflation? - Milelke - 2009-07-06 LeJoueur Wrote:worse thing could have happen, and i'm surprised it has not happen yet: people generating max meso by the whole FM and delete their char rinse repeat : that's what i would have called real chaos Thats not chaos, that would be crashing the maple economy. Actually that made me think smthg a little bit crazy but that made some sense to me: since nexon shut down almost all serious hack forum, things tend to spread at a much much slower pace, hence the very "happy" few with enough skills to bypass just about anything keep their hack private longer. And i was trying to figure it out if it is not better to let all those things go public faster so they got patched faster instead of a very little gang destroying the game for a longer term. What's causing all the inflation? - DarkHero22 - 2009-07-06 I was checkin out the FM just now in Scania and I found 60% Glove Attack going from 20-30m when they were 5m before all this inflation started. :| What's causing all the inflation? - ItzTaylor - 2009-07-06 iCollect Wrote:I only started talking when someone told me my guild was mentioned in this thread. I looked at it and simply wanted to clarify some misgivings people seemed to feel towards us. ;P None of the posts were directed toward you. The one talking about the guild was to explain the glove attk price increase. Not to bash, just to inform. The posts were directed to everyone in general. @iCollect you completely missed the whole point of what I was saying. and after hearing you talk about the meso exploit, I don't think it's real anymore. The real reason I think meso prices are so low is because the gold farmers have to compete with eachother. If one goes low, they all do. As for the amount of mesos being tossed around- they have probably already been there, just sitting on characters waiting to be sold. Now they are in buyer and sellers hands. Since you are playing the market and admited (If I read your first post correctly.) to inflating scrolls on all servers I don't see why you would expect people here to treat you nicely. The smug snake attitude you've got doesn't help either. Then again, it could be worse. Some forums have staff that would have made up some inane excuse to warn/ban you by now and/or closed the topic all together. iCollect Wrote:*EDIT*Good show. iCollect Wrote:I merchant for fun, I don't care about mesos, lmao. I think I already said this before.Oh, good. You should have no problem sending me 1b so I can afford things then, right? ![]() Taliant Wrote:Besides not eating into the inflated items at hand, only other solution I can see to this is... a hopeless attempt to spam Nexon about these sites and see if they can either shut them down or interupt their trades (such as the ideas Collect mentioned).Thing is, even if Nexon DID ban the gold sellers they would just come back. I think the better option would be banning the people BUYING from them, making the transaction less desirable. What's causing all the inflation? - Kalovale - 2009-07-06 To sum up, as I understand it, there are two engines pulling this train to hell: monopolization and excessive amounts of mesos being circulated. iCollect group of people set the fire of monopoly, ignorant merchants add in the oil with a hope to make more profits for themselves, inadvertently worsening the situation, damaging their own budget as well as everyone else's with a loop of inflation. Eventually meso's value will reach very close to zero, or at least this is where this train is headed. Meso farmers/hackers/sellers injected the massive amounts of mesos into the economy (with an estimated rate of 2.174b every 10 mins) in order to.. well, make real money. Whether or not there will be a limit to this, I do not know. If there's a deadline to haul as much money as possible before they all get put into jail, I presume they will not give a damn to Maple economy. If, however, they can take their time and optimize the situation for their gain, I hope they know what they're doing and not bring the economy down in a week. iCollect Wrote:I, along with a few friends and other merchants, effectively bought out the entire FM of GFA in ALL servers. This is not impossible when you're rolling in tens to hundreds of billions of mesos in pure in each server (all legit, I assure you).As long as this remains true, he is the one to blame, but not hate, at least to me. Call me naive or believing but I don't see why he'd go through all lengths to try and elaborate on this situation just to fool the average-minded people and have a good laugh at people's ignorance, maybe this gives him a hard-on, but I prefer to think not.. ![]() So if you need someone to vent your anger/grief/hatred on, find the meso sellers. If you want to put a stop to this, find the meso sellers. If those 2 options are too close to impossibility, well, what I'm doing is buy things I can afford and put them in the freezer and wait for Nexon to actualize a thorough solution: Shut down the damned meso sellers. Futile effort, you say, but at least it puts me to sleep at night. tl;dr: iCollect's people started the inflation using the opportunity that mesos are being sold dirt cheap which strengthens the customer's buying ability. Everyone trying to make a profit is actually harming themselves in a foreseeable future. My solution? Freeze the market. (though it's almost implausible and unrewarding, it might give us some time to bug Nexon enough till they do something about it) What's causing all the inflation? - ItzTaylor - 2009-07-06 This thread is so pointless it's not even funny. If there's a Meso Hack, you are screwed. If there isn't, everything will go back to normal eventually. Complaining about iCollect inflating an easy selling item is doing nothing. The people you should be complaining about is the Meso Hackers, if there even is any. If not you should be complaining about Meso Farmers for making mesos worth nothing. If it is just the Meso Farmers, the price of mesos will go back to normal when their stock runs low. iCollect has done nothing but taken advantage of what meso hackers and meso sellers are doing. And if there turns out to be meso hackers, he will only make so much profit off what he is doing. And if you don't know it, you probably don't FM anyways and are dirt poor, so it doesn't even matter. What's causing all the inflation? - Sn1perJohnE - 2009-07-06 alwzn4vr Wrote:1. How is inflation ever "natural"? 1. Fluctuation in prices are natural, based on the overall supply, along with the overall demand. When there is high supply with a neutral demand, prices tend to stay lower in order to off load backed up items. When demand is high demand with a neutral supply, prices tend to be higher, as there is more people out buying this one item. The prices for gasoline can be considered as an example here. When theres the consensus that the supply is high, prices will usually tend to be cheaper, where as when there is a consensus that the supply is low, prices tend to be higher. Gold market is also highly volatile to supply. When theres even a slightly large amount of new gold introduced, prices can drop easily. In short, supply and demand fuel natural inflation and deflation. Since we didnt have a sudden drop in the supply of Glove ATT 60% scrolls, or even a sudden rush of people looking to buy them, artificial inflation has occured. 2. Its called price fixing, google it and youll most likely come across stories on Samsung price fixing their flash memory modules, and another from either nVidia or ATI/AMD fixing the price on their GPUs. 3. He said he was preparing for the inflation, not in those exact words, but its what he said. And to prepare for it, he essentially created the inflation in the process. And to the last bit, you technically can clone the Land and Labor portion in a game like Maple. Just create a new character and/or account. When one merchant-used character is full of items to sell, set their items up in a mushroom shop and continue onto another character, rinse and repeat. You could essentially fill a whole FM room up with your own shops. MasPan Wrote:I never said you cared about the mesos - you were remarking that a lot of people were insulting you or didn't like you, and I offered a solution to that problem. So, it was a post to spite me for no other purpose than to spite me. I see. Oh dear, you seem to think I ponder heavily upon these baseless insults of self sacrilege. =( Quote:It's just sad that people will willingly make life harder for others...I love these scenarios, so here's one: Everyone will lose their heart unless they know how to preserve theirs. Will you preserve yours if you knew how or would you die with the rest? Take one for the team and take the plunge of death! I mean, c'mon if you choose to live, that's just unfair and it really is just sad and pathetic. Not quite as black and white as that, but same concept to a lesser degree. =) Quote:Thanks, I figured packet editing would be the most likely way to do this. As I said before, the fact that mesos are impossible to uniquely identify without crushing the back end database server. Nodelay with 50k bags. I got chased around by meso hackers today. =( Quote:None of the posts were directed toward you. The one talking about the guild was to explain the glove attk price increase. Not to bash, just to inform.I was just giving my two cents to an otherwise one-sided point of view. Since they were directed to everyone, I am also completely at liberty to reply to them. =) Quote:Quote:Maple is going to pomegranate now, you might as well quit and play a new game.@iCollect you completely missed the whole point of what I was saying. Quote:Your point was that this game has no point and acts only as a medium for people to boost their own ego. The rest was just an apocalyptic forecast. All I did was provide one point for why some people will still play this game at no personal loss. That's all. As for meso exploits... you are entitled to your beliefs. I do wonder if you'll feel the same when mesos are at 100m=$1 in a week or two. Increased demand, supposedly same rate of meso farming as before, but decrease in price =) Competition is great and all... but the elasticity of mesos is certainly sketchy. Also, I do like how one person is now the donation king of all cities in windia. I also liked when meso hackers chased me around trying to outbid me w/ offering max mesos for something that only cost 1.3b, even in this inflated market. Best part was when they didn't even deny hacking the mesos and threatened to bring mules to outbid me more =) Quote:It's kind of hard for people to respect you when a good majority of the people here aren't merchents and therefore cannot afford many of the now-inflated scrolls. All I'm saying is that a random slur of insults amount to nothing in the end, so why post them? But don't worry, I'm not losing sleep over this terribly tragic series of ungrounded misgivings. =) Oh and right, the quote you quoted me saying was just me saying "lolwut? i don't see a relation between what i posted and what you replied with." Quote:Good show.Thank you. I aim to please. Quote:Oh, good. You should have no problem sending me 1b so I can afford things then, right?I actually have no problem with giving people money if they earned it. I actually give about 10-15m away a day to people on vic to help them start up because a lot of people are nice about it and engage in excellent conversations with me. I'm much more reserved about giving this away to "Gimme Mesos. you're rich, therefore you should give me money." Do you see the difference? If people do more things to EARN the mesos, I give them more. FEELS GOOD MAN. Quote:Whether or not there will be a limit to this, I do not know. We can agree to disagree on what's natural or articifical in the maple world. I understand that it likely annoys the crap out of you when players mess with the economy but that isn't going to stop anytime soon. In fact, as more people start buying dirt cheap mesos from these sites, I predict more price volatility.
