Fitness thread - Throes - 2013-06-08 Finally getting back on that horse after a month of being lazy. I'm sore today, but not as sore as I thought I would be after such a long period of inactivity. Ate a lot while we were on vacation in France... dear lord I have never eaten real food until I ate French food. So. Amazing. ![]() chrome Wrote:This might be helpful:Actually thanks a lot for this, it is very helpful indeed. Also my inner sexpot is making me consider pole dancing lessons... both as a form of exercise and as an alternative career path. Gotta work on my core and flexibility first though.
Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-10 BENCH: 195x5 (all-time PR) And God said, "Let them lift weights." And the PRs were broken. I've been recording myself for form check purposes, so I might post a video later to see if my form is good. Fitness thread - Throes - 2013-06-17 Omgee handstand practice so good today. I think I was in a legit handstand for like half a second... but definitely did not expect to get that far considering it's only the 3rd day of handstand practice. It was like "holy shit am I really doing this... yeah I am!" So awesome. Been watching Dirdy Birdy videos for motivation. I really want to do this! Did some research online and there are several studios in the city I could go. One of them is having an open house this Friday, gonna try to make it out there. Yay! Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-17 I haven't actually logged here in a while (Or at all...I've just been keeping mental note of things), haha. I sort of broke a squat PR today but felt weak afterwards, but despite all of that I think I had a good day today. I was due to put up 200x5 for my top bench set today and I was really pumped up and 100% sure I was going to do it. The first rep came easily, but the second rep was so freakishly fucking hard that I had to rack it. I felt down for a good minute after I failed that set, since I did 200x3 last week pretty well. But what did I do? Did I quit? Fuck no I didn't. I loaded that bar with two plates, arched the fuck out of my lower back, yanked the bar off the rack, and proceeded to max out with a 225 single. And what did I do? I grunted like a high-octane mechanical baboon on the way down, produced the shit out of all the lactic acid my body is physically capable of generating, got to the bottom of the rep, gritted my teeth as I heaved the weight up back towards the rack... Got half way up, held it there for about two seconds as I tried to push it further, then had to drop it on my chest and roll it off. Yes, I did the roll of shame, for the first time in like a year. Not every gym story is a success story. But regardless, I went the Eric Spoto route and did lower weight/high reps since I was having a bad day, and I made the most out of it.

Also cut going pretty well. Currently at 171lbs, looking a little better in the mirror. Fitness thread - Throes - 2013-06-22 Chickened out going to the pole dancing open house. However, further online research pointed me to a different studio that charges almost 40% less and has great reviews. Unfortunately, the next session doesn't start until the beginning of August so I'll have to satisfy my curiosity with YouTube videos until then. I guess it's fine because I have a lot of work to do on my upper body strength before I can do some of those crazy moves. Getting a bit better at handstands, though it's made me realize how much weaker my left arm is than my right. :< I can only stay up for maybe a second before my left arm buckles and I have to ungracefully fall over. I'm curious what everyone listens to when they work out. I've been listening to the album below, because it is fun and over an hour long so it generally lasts longer than my entire workout. It would be nice to have a little bit more variety than this + the songs in Dance Central though. Suggest me things! I'm stronger than I thought I was! Feeling a bit worn out now though. Yay for fitness! Fitness thread - Imitazion - 2013-06-23 Razmos Wrote:Went to the gym for the first time ever today. I'm stronger than I thought I was!Don't ignore form and posture. Avoid bending your back. Avoid kipping your lifts. Stuff like that. Fitness thread - Razmos - 2013-06-23 Imitazion Wrote:Don't ignore form and posture.Ah, yeah. My dad was there showing me how it's done, so I was pretty well informed about stuff like that. Fitness thread - Imitazion - 2013-06-23 Razmos Wrote:Ah, yeah. My dad was there showing me how it's done, so I was pretty well informed about stuff like that.nifty. when I teach friends on how to perform the exersises, I always tell them that the form is the most important. if they feel they are about to curve out their deadlift, I tell them to just drop it, and try again after the resting period between the set. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-23 ![]() I only ever eat these four at a time. I do not regret my decision. Fitness thread - Imitazion - 2013-06-23 I should really get a shipment of the peanut bar. they look delicious as all hell. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-23 Yes, yes you should. I think I've tried all but one of the flavors by now. My ranking from best to worst: 1. Chocolate Peanut Butter (you have been dethroned, Vanilla Almond) 2. Vanilla Almond 3. Cinnamon Roll 4. Coconut Cashew/Chocolate Brownie 5. Cookie Dough 6. Peanut Butter and Jelly 7. Peanut Butter 8. Apple Pie 9. Strawberry Cheesecake 10. Banana Nut Muffin (then again I don't really like bananas) 11. 12. 13. 14. . . . 23850802. Lemon Cream Pie (yes it is that bad) Fitness thread - Imitazion - 2013-06-23 I am currently bulking, and I imagine these are epic bulking snacks. and at 20g brotein per bar, it can't be that bad. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-23 Hell they're good for anything. Like I said I've been eating them 4 at a time and I'm still cutting (down 10, yeahhhh). Also thank God, they renamed their gluten-free pasta from "Pastabilities" to just "Quest Pasta". Now I won't have to feel bad about myself if I ever decide to buy it. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-06-26 Deadlift reps have been dwindling down while my squats have been going up. Presses still need work. I only managed to hit 380x2 max on DLs while pyramiding up today. This is the 2nd time I haven't hit 5 reps, so I'm probably gonna reset down to my last 5RM at 360. Also PRed front squats at 240x5. Fitness thread - Throes - 2013-07-09 Took the plunge and signed up for the beginning pole dance class. First session is August 1st, so I have about 3 weeks to get these arms and abs into proper pole dancing form. I am so stoked! Been scouring the internets for proper stripperiffic music and it is getting me so excited for class. ^o^ Tried the coconut cashew Quest bar on chrome's recommendation... pretty darn tasty! I could get used to munching on these. And I don't feel guilty at all either. In pathetic news I am now up to 3x6 real pushups... yeeeeeaaaaaah! Fitness thread - Dusk - 2013-07-09 This is my first week off since I started working out from basically zero muscles in late April. Current progress (completed): Squat - 5 x 5 @ 125 lb Bench - 5 x 5 @ 115 lb OP - 5 x 5 @ 70 lb Deadlift - 3 x 5 @ 145 lb PR - 5 x 5 @ 95 lb Chin up - 3 x 5 Curl - 5 x 5 @ 52.5 lb Checking back in a month or so. Fitness thread - ImagineAll - 2013-07-09 Finally, after some medically related set backs, got to hit the good ol' weights again. It's amazing how instantaneously better I feel about life in general after a good workout. Stress and depression be gone ![]() It was a long way off from where I was at on my lifts, but I'm looking forward to passing those previous mile-stones I set before. If anything I'm really excited about the prospect of starting anew and working on some form tweeks that I should have made a lot earlier in my lifting but wasn't comfortable adjusting previously. Ass-to-grass 100% of the time on Squats is gonna happen (albeit maybe not at 275 lbs haha). Cardio days start tomorrow. Gonna give running two miles a go and see how terribly I fail. Fitness thread - chrome - 2013-07-09 ImagineAll Wrote:Cardio days start tomorrow. Gonna give running two miles a go and see how terribly I fail.Don't feel bad if you do fail. I'm still finding my paces with two miles and doing pretty terribly. >___> EDIT: Also, I finally uploaded a squat/DL video to YouTube for a form check (and a bit of ego stroking...hey if I'm going to do it somewhere). The two lifts are two days apart (From Saturday and this morning, respectively) and they were my top sets for the day.
video, also bad DL form
