Pony General:"Season 12 will never air" edition. - OmegazeroGA - 2012-08-11 In a quick show of hands and I'll edit or post the results tomorrow, who wants me to do a compilation post every 10 days? Your call guys. Also, Galacon is going on right now...even though I don't know what they're saying...and apparently the Hype for Everfree is EXTREMELY lesser than I originally thought...I thought everyone would be like spazzing "OMG OMG OMG OMG EVERFREE BLUB BLUB WUB."... but it's pretty chill. Also today was the first meet for my school's Japanese Club...And this is how it went.
So everyone had to introduce themselves to the club, even returnees, which, yes, I had to stand up in front of 50-something students...and say my name, why I joined the club, fav. anime if so, and 1 interesting fact about me. "Okay, so...What's up everyone! My name is Classic, I'm a returnee of course...I watch (Oh hell no, I'm not mentioning that.)." So then everyone went crazy since I watch this anime...when I don't look like a guy that watches anime... THEN...came the 1 interesting fact... "And well...You guys may not know what this is but...I'm a brony." Everyone. Spazzes. Out. Big-time. Then someone shouted... "Best Pony?" "Rainbow Dash you silly fillies." And then everyone got into a heated debate...and the officers told them to, of course...shut up. "Well, true story guys, Watching MLP here isn't weird." "Tis be the truth." But enough about what I hate. You got to admit though that they are able to get quite a few guests on their show, which for me counts as something. I'm not too familiar with what they're doing that can be considered as tyrannical. Is it just me or does Link Ponys cutie mark look like it's just a sticker slapped onto his flank? Pony General:"Season 12 will never air" edition. - Aircalibur - 2012-08-11 Guess who's back? Back again? Air is back! Tell a friend! ANYWAY. Final "I have higher quality versions of the posters I've posted eight or six times" post. So this is the new link! Who hoo! Also, Maple Bacon Ale? Good idea. (I'm so drunk) Pony General:"Season 12 will never air" edition. - OmegazeroGA - 2012-08-11 IllegallySane Wrote:Is it just me or does Link Ponys cutie mark look like it's just a sticker slapped onto his flank?WELL, I'm back from staring at a HD TV screen with 5 other friends for a good 11 hours...Time to answer and question...wat? First off, yes. That's Air, ponfied, if you don't know. God, that was half-assed beyond heck, to be honest. His mark is a ? Block. Second, if you think about it, EFR is the only WELL known team in the Media Division. (in my opinion.) They pretty much sometimes snub out other media teams. (Has happened multiple times during Bronycon 2012. There were 5 Streamers, by midday 1, only EFR was streaming.) But, I digress...once again. Anyways, I completely forgot about Day X today. And this was done in roughly 5mins...I gotta say. I do better when under pressure.
Day X! Draw a Pony Making a Decision.

I'll have it up tomorrow then, I suppose. BACK TO THE LARGE TV AND ARTERY CLOGGING FOOD! So, day XI has me following up on "Leisure Time 2-Electric Scootaloo." Let's just say, Cloud came back for someone's 3DS. Theme? Draw A Pony Fixing Something/On The Mend. Pony General:"Season 12 will never air" edition. - OmegazeroGA - 2012-08-12 *Yawns* 7:40am?! geez. When did I slee- *Slept at 3am* ...Well... *cough* I got nothing. Haven't done a news roundup in a while as opposed to my ATG posts...back in my element.
So just for reassurance...Someone finally confirms their defection to the herd.
For mainly the mac users...MORE ICONS!
Turns out, they need to be in a .ico file for windows users.

Typical Rookie. Oh well. At least I got some work done. And on top of that, It was a half day! W-wait. Half Day? Wonder what's the occasion.
Well, I was with my friend Izen today fixing the mess Cloud made a few days ago. Thank god his OC, Jack In, knows how to fix this kinds of stuff. ![]() Also Double Rainboom is looking for a Rainbow Dash VA. ...Also I figured out why I have a dislike for Double Rainboom. Seriously, they're trying to mock the show bit by bit. SERIOUSLY? Is this freaking necessary? I guess in short, they don't have to mock the show bit by bit...I mean, I could do it if I had the right materials, a tablet, after elements...the knowledge to animate better...Oh yes, I can animate, but hell to the freaking no, I don't want to. I'm not jealous. I'm just peeved they're really doing this. I know the expression "above and beyond" but...come on...this is just...they can succeed this very easily and make it their own instead of looking like a remix. THE ENTIRE EPISODE IS ANIMATED LIKE IT'S A REAL EPISODE OF MLP. Anyways, me and a few friends are in talks of possibly starting up a short animation project. Apparently they want me to do the anamatic of the sort...I don't want to. I may know how to draw ponies at a steady rate, but it's not worthy of doing something like that. Yeesh. If nothing else, it'd show the fandom in a better light and will also be another awesome moment for the Bronies. I can't remember the last time fans made an entire, for example, Simpsons or Avatar episode with their own two hooves. The moment the whole thing comes out, I'm downloading the hay out of it. Know the saying "Two Sides To A Coin?" Flat Line:Them animating it like it's actually a ep of MLP is completely necessary, they can do a completely better job and succeed from the actual animators instead of trying to mock their style. However, I'm not saying that the actual animators are terrible, they're great! TD;LR version:Where's the uniqueness? I've herd of the saying "Everything's a Remix" but there's a boundary between what's defined as a such. If you're not familiar with that, I guess think an Abridged series with lots of snarky jeers. To be honest, that's yea, what I was kinda expecting. I'm okay with things like "Picture Perfect" and the Epic series, because there's that certain "Uniqueness" about them. Even the .Mov Comics I'm cool with that. (Or in general, all comics that has a retained look of the show. They look like it, I'll give them that, but they're putting in their own flare to it, which makes it unique. Look at Veggie55 for instance. It's nearly directly similar, but he adds his own special style or flare.) Look at my art style for example! I'm only best at side-runs. Double Rainboom however...it's just lacking that certain "Uniqueness". I understand they're trying to make it look exactly like an actual MLP Episode, but...where is the "uniqueness?" Is it supposed to be the plot? We've seen RD do a Sonic Rainboom, and the title is a play on "Double Rainbow", which has been hashed on for many months now and is slowly on it's way into fading into obscurity, or likely has already. It's not really fresh anymore. Another antagonist? Well, it better not be some type of bragging, typical, wise-cracking antagonist. (In other words, there's a specific checklist for "hashed/overused concepts for antagonists" somewhere I gotta show you guys later on. Many critics follow these aspects.) I looked at "Feeling Pinkie Keen" and Promo 1. It's DEAD ON SIMILAR. Everything from the details to even the magic auras. I honestly look at things in a completely different light don't I guys? Anyways, I decided to halt on Air's Commission. I'll likely resume it in September...After I do my perfect attendance for ATG. TD;DROAW (Too Long; Didn't Read Others As Well):Where is the uniqueness? .....I'm just pooped out now...I hate it...sigh. Anyways, so as you guys know, play minecraft. And I watch Minecraft Let's Plays. However, this one relates to a very famous mod known as Tekkit and Technic Pack, and he's doing it in a adventure-scripted-ish, sort of aspect. HOWEVER, this one section caught my ear and eye. I don't know if it was directly or indirect...or if it was even related to MLP...but he mentions the word "Fancypants" and another future character named "Prince Blueblood." Considered? I don't know. If it doesn't head to the part I wanted, Go to 4:19 if it didn't start you off directly. Pony General:"Season 12 will never air" edition. - Aircalibur - 2012-08-13 I think more or less the point of "Double Rainboom" is that it's a homage, and a chance for the people involved to show off skills, be they animating, voicing, or music. It's not very unique, and neither are the other fan-made episode projects, but they are well done, and that's nice. I really think the homage is really what they're going for. If they wanted to do anything unique, it has to be in the bounds of what can be "homage" and not "parody". That means that the final script can't deviate too far from what an actual episode might be, and neither can the music, animation, or overall feel. VAing, is something entirely different, it's neigh impossible to do a perfect match. The .MOV series (and Jappleack), the Mentally Advanced Series, Friendship is Witchcraft, many tumblr blogs; all parody. They don't draw much from the original source, other than basic character models, candy colored equines, and a few personality quirks. Sometimes they do borrow the show's tone, but not always. Comics sometimes fall here too; Pixelkitties and CSImadmax tend to be somewhere between homage and parody; they maintain the feel of the show and it's characters, but also draw from other sources and sometimes stray from the original feel. Veggie55 tends to lean more toward homage. His strips may be more risque or mature at times, but you still feel that on the whole, they could be things that happen in the show's universe. WillDrawForFood1, who does "Ask Suprise" would be here too, as would the artist of DisorderlyConduct. Most fan music fits in this section as well. Other tumblr blogs tend to fall more under "homage". Original Twilight, Ask the Flower Trio, Ask the Pie Sisters, any ask blog that stays to the original characters from the show, all tend to maintain the feel of the show, sometimes with canon characters, sometimes without; but they still stay more or less true to the source material. Picture Perfect Pony would be here as well. Then there's things like Discord Whooves, which takes place in a similar universe, and takes inspiration from the show, but also draws from other sources, fanon, etc. They have little to do with the show, but if done well, can still be popular. All the artists I mentioned are "creative" through different ways of using the source material, some more, some less. I guess what makes projects like Double Rainboom unique is how un-unique they are. They're intended to be fanmade episodes, so, what they're trying for is exactness. This... isn't something we see much. Things like "Picture Perfect Pony" work well, because it fits in with Photo Finish's personality, and it feels like part of the show's universe. The problem with a whole episode is drawing lines. What point does homage become parody? When do references to fanon or memes start to corrupt the idea of the show? Ask blogs that stay true to their characters work well because they have material to draw from; other bloggers. If they have enough people who know what the pineapple they're doing working on it, then it could be well done. They have to more or less reverse engineer that; what makes the show good? 1. Characters 2. Writing 3. Animation 4. Music 5. Voice Acting 6. The Fans 1 is easy, they're making a homage, they have characters ready for them. 3, as you can already tell, is time consuming, but doable, and they've done a great job so far. 4 is tricky, but we have such a wide variety of musicians that it's not a huge hurdle. 5 is tough. You can't match a voice exactly, but people like Rina and Bree Faith do a decent job, so it's not too bad. 6 is simple, Bronies will most likely eat it up. 2 is where the problem comes for reasons I mentioned earlier, and it'll depend on who they have writing. Consider that these writers are writing for fans only, not the wide demographic the show tries for. If they have the feel of the episode, then for all intents and purposes, I'll enjoy watching it. There's just no way to tell how good it will be until we see it; it could be really bland and terrible. What makes the show so amazing is how well those six elements blend together in perfect harmony(that was dumb of me), getting fans to do that might be a little tricky. tl;dr I spend way too much time reading into this fandom and the people in it. |
