They didn't post a leader board, in the hopes that people would buy more and more runs without knowing whether they stand a chance at all. (And this worked to an extent, some people did hundreds of runs more than they really needed) But what happened is that many people refused to even compete under those conditions. Especially in Scania, where it looks like people just assumed the NX hoes would make it so you need several hundred runs to get it.

If there had been a leader board and you could see that people would get a medal with 61 runs, you'd do 62. Or 70. Or 100 because somebody else saw the same thing and went for that 62 as well.
