Endangered Monsters - IsaacGS - 2008-12-30 As the previous thread would lead you to believe, I've been playing KMS quite a bit lately. And, in KMS, many, many Victoria Island maps (and a few off Vic) have been altered. What does this mean? Well, the obvious answer is some maps were made better or worse for training, and that they might be easier to traverse. The not so obvious answer? Formerly common monsters are now becoming extremely hard to find. Thus, the purpose of this thread is to educate anyone who might want to attempt to complete the monster book on what cards they should aim for as soon as possible, before these map changes come to GMS (Assuming nexon doesn't screw us over and introduce them at the same time as the book.) I'll also mention some monsters you might not have previously thought of. As with most of my threads that relate to KMS, input from other KMSers are welcome.

Iron Pig ![]() Iron Pigs are a familiar sight on the way to Mushmom. But, this is no longer the case; the once famous Pig Park has been completely replaced with Horned and Blue mushrooms. Thus, the only Iron Pig that I know of in KMS is the one that periodically spawns at Pig Beach. Needless to say, for any prospective Card hunters this is a nightmare. It puts Iron pigs on the order of boss rarity. Get their cards first! (EDIT: Iron Pigs are mixed with Iron Boars at Burnt Land 3 and 4, the spawn's not great but it's bearable. I would still recommend getting these before the map change.)
Fire Drake ![]() Unlike the Iron Pig, Fire Drake spawn is already pretty crappy. They're confined to one single map near Perion, mixed with a bunch of other monster species. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, Nexon pulls one over on you. Now, Fire Drakes are relegated to the deep ant tunnel, as with the other Drake species. There's only a few, and they're sporadically placed. No good place to be hunting them now.
Copper Drake ![]() Seems like the whole Drake family got screwed over. Copper Drakes were moved into the ant tunnel as well, and while their spawn isn't *as* bad, they're still mixed in at Drake Hunting Ground with regular drakes. (Ha, so much for the story that they were thrown out of the dungeon for being too weak) You could knock out both Copper and Fire drakes at once since they spawn together in Perion at GMS.
Drake ![]() Even the regular Drake suffers. With the coppers and Fire drakes mixed in, it's much harder to hunt these guys alone. I think I've talked enough about the drakes though. The situation's not as dire with these but I'd still put them at the top of the priority list.
Green Mushroom ![]() You're probably looking at this post like I'm crazy now. How can the Green Mushroom, pestilence of Ellinia, become rare? Well, I'll tell you how: The tree dungeons have been ruined. Nexon replaced the green mushrooms with all sorts of other monsters: A bubbling tree, an Axe stump tree, an Evil Eye tree... Fortunately our favorite Slime Tree is still intact, but the green mushrooms are practically run out. On top of that, Henesys Hunting Ground 1 was remodeled, and the Green Mushrooms were removed from the top platform. There are a few to be found at "An Empty House" (on the way to MM) and at HHG2, but in general they're much harder to find. This naturally makes a LOT of low level quests much, much harder, especially the 999.
Snail ![]() "...Come on, this must be a joke." Nope. If you did the Mano quest, you probably realized that Green snails aren't exactly easy to find in abundance. Sure, if you start a new character you'll probably get one before you leave Maple Island, but for everyone else, these are gonna be tough. For Cygnus characters it's even harder, because they do the first 13 levels in Ereb and never go near Maple Island. Since Ereb monsters don't drop cards (as only Cygnus characters can kill them) this puts them at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to card collecting. Either way, you need to scour Lith's beaches for snails.
Shroom ![]() These guys are pretty tough to find as it is, but HHG is the way to go. There's also a platform on the map to the right of Henesys where they're fairly abundant.
Tick ![]() Ticks only spawn in one map in Ludi, and with the map update they're mixed with an even larger number of Tick Tocks than before, which makes getting the quest items you need from them a real peach. Fortunately for quests, they also made the Tick and Tick Tock share etc drops, so they both drop what's needed. Doesn't make card hunting any easier, though.
Monsters That Are Rare in Both Of course, some monsters are just as hard before and after the map change. Some are obvious (Like bosses, Jr. Boogie, and Fierry.)

Dark Stump ![]() Dark Stumps are hard to find. They're usually heavily mixed with other varieties of Stumps. The best map, in my experience, is at the border of Perion and Kerning.
Green Trixter ![]() Always spawns with regular trixter, and because of this they tend to be limited to 3-5 per map at once, which makes collecting their card extremely difficult. Interior floors near the middle of the tower are the only place these are found.
Dark Sand Dwarf ![]() Again, only spawns on a few maps, mixed in with other monsters (In particular the extremely common Sand Rat and Scorpion). They're hard to find...
Roloduck ![]() Only in a few maps at the Cloud Terrace in Ludi's Toy Factory. There's only one place where they're even decent.
Jr. Seal ![]() These only spawn on one map with an even lower density than before (however this map has been changed already in GMS) which makes them quite difficult to hunt.
Iron Boar ![]() Bet you forgot these even exist. (edit: They're actually all over the place now lol. At the Burnt Land 3+ they're common.)
Dark Jr. Yeti ![]() I learned this the hard way doing the "Lost Saddle" quest... regular, non-transforming Dark Jr. Yeti are probably one of the rarest monsters in the game. Only on 2 maps in the 50+ area of El Nath.
Jr. Lucida ![]() Since they're only summoned by Eliza, it'll be a real pain trying to get their card.
Homunscullo ![]() If you did the Magatia quests you already know about this... They only spawn once every 30 minutes.
D.Roy ![]() If you did the Magatia quests you already know about this... They only spawn once every 30 minutes, and these will be hunted way more often due to Keeny's quest.
That's it for now. These are all pretty rare monsters you might want to concentrate on when the Book is out. Some monsters (like Evil Eye, Bubbling and Ghost Stump) are WAY more common due to the changes, so these might be ones to wait on. Endangered Monsters - Combattente - 2008-12-30 Thank you very much for the information. I'll make sure to get those monsters' cards before other monsters'. Endangered Monsters - bio9205 - 2008-12-30 I have a few questions, Isaac. Will there be cards for super bosses like Zakum and HT? Also, do PQ bosses drop cards? (King Slime, Lord Pirate, etc) Endangered Monsters - GMSInfighter - 2008-12-30 Woot. This shall come in handy when I attempt to out number your cards! Endangered Monsters - Scaeva - 2008-12-30 Anyone care to call greenpeace to make Nexon give those monsters their own maps back? A couple of those are some of my favorite monsters and now they're going to DIE, forever! Endangered Monsters - FelixTM - 2008-12-30 I dunno if it's different in KMS, but Iron Pigs also spawn on the map from the top right portal in Henesys and the map after that one (one with the entrance to the Stone Golem map). They're not that common, but it's still more spawn to consider. Did they remove them, too? @ below, lol...crisis averted. Endangered Monsters - Seredipity - 2008-12-30 ![]() Not too many Pigs but Boars are flourishing. FelixTM// they removed them too @@@@ the patch news for 1.2.162 on .Update news shows where some of the monsters went. Look at the map of Victoria Island Endangered Monsters - ZachAttack - 2008-12-30 I see the magatia monsters being a real peach. Endangered Monsters - Russt - 2008-12-30 Shouldn't Snail and Shroom be under the second category? Edit: Those Iron Pigs really clash with Perion's background. I imagine some of the other KMS changes are even worse, but it's one thing to hear about it and another thing to see a screenshot >_> Endangered Monsters - Alloy - 2008-12-30 I'm taking note, and getting those first. Thanks for the info! Also, Jr boogies have a faantastic spawn at the zombie mushmom map. *watches as Nexon adds the map changes with monster book...* Endangered Monsters - Chameleonic - 2008-12-30 How rare a drop are the mosnter cards? Will it take days/weeks of farming a particular monster to get all 5 cards? Endangered Monsters - Alloy - 2008-12-30 Chameleonic Wrote:How rare a drop are the mosnter cards? You can find out in Magatia! Are they still dropping them? I got all 5 of the homunculus ones... And didn't get the exp boost yet. I hope they get saved for the real book D: Endangered Monsters - Hazzy - 2008-12-30 Nexon hates wildlife. D: Endangered Monsters - Kirov - 2008-12-30 Green mushrooms are easy to find. They are still in "Dungeon, Southern Forest III". They removed the slimes from there and replaced them with even more green mushrooms. Endangered Monsters - Deviant - 2008-12-30 Wow you're right, I did forget iron boars existed xD And you know for sure jr lucidias have a card? Do Zakum's boogies have one too? o_o Endangered Monsters - Hazzy - 2008-12-30 Chameleonic Wrote:How rare a drop are the mosnter cards? Took me a few hours worth of training at level 40ish to get 5 cards. Lower leveled maps are mobby, so those will be fast. Skelegons... which are less mobby... iunno. Endangered Monsters - Sinnuendo - 2008-12-30 It might also be a good idea to tell which monsters got a better map, like Lupins, Zombie Lupins, and Cold Eyes on the way to FoG. Endangered Monsters - Itachi54647 - 2008-12-30 One of the side maps of the Sahel Desert had a decent amount of Dark Sand Dwarfs, mixed with some Scorpions. Endangered Monsters - Doxinator - 2008-12-30 I'll be getting right on these cards as soon as the book is out. Thank goodness I already have the Homunscullo card. I got that on the 2nd one I killed...Haha. I just hope the cards carry over.
