Microwaves and ice cubes - A complete scam. - StopMe - 2011-07-27

Some of you may have been wondering why Nexon did not put a list of items coming from the new "Gachapon" microwaves in the cash shop.
The answer is because there'd be to much pomegranate to put on there.

I've called things in the past a scam, but this does not even compare. Decided to try 5 since I needed armor scrolls to chaos on stuff, and being the first on would also allow me to mushy any good item that came out of it.

Big mistake.

Note, I tried 2 prior to these.

They were a 1h BW 70% and shield def. 70%.

 Spoiler

If you're aiming for those armor att scrolls, note that you will not make anything back.
Please post what you get, the amount you used, and where you got the ice cube from.

Time count on how long before some exploit surfaces?

A Microwave is bought using NX. You can't exploit that.

It's been done before, fill a slot up with the desired item and spam click.

Unfortunately, lol, there is a safeguard. A pop up comes up saying to make space in ETC/USE/EQ or it will be wasted.

It's not a scam. A scam would be them saying you'd get X but you got Y. They didnt say what you'd get so...

Not to mention this is always how these sort of boxes work.
Even when they do post a partial list of what's in them the emphasis is always on partial.
Anyone who's seen a normal gachapon should know by now that they advertise the good stuff and fill 95% of those with useless crap because the whole point of them is to be a gamble not a sure thing.

Remind me to write a complaint to the lottery commission that my powerball ticket didn't give me a multi-million jackpot every time... clearly they scammed me. Rolleyes

The one advantage of this event over the usual gach-box one is the red buttons.
You are guaranteed one every time you use the microwave.
So for example if you want an Armor Attack scroll (if I understood your opening post correctly?) you need to use 2 more microwaves, then take your 7 buttons to Inkwell and trade him for that armor att scroll. No gamble. You know each such scroll costs exactly 10.5k nx. The items that might pop up from the ice cubes, beside the buttons, are your bonus.

Remember the first ever gold gachapon box event? Hardly a waste. 75% of what you opened was revenue put to opening a new one.

Decided to test your 95% theory, although this is my 2nd, I thought it would be funny if I actually got it for this sole purpose.
 Spoiler

I agree, should have made it "A complete waste".

@SaptaZapta

Not if you do not need the buttons. It's 15%, not 60, not 100, not 70. Going to take a lot more then 1 to even do anything with them.

But you do need the red buttons.
You're likely to get enough buttons for 10 such scrolls before you get the scroll out of the ice cube itself. (What even makes you think it can come from there?)
If you look at is as buying buttons for 1.5k nx each, you won't feel scammed. Gouged, maybe, but not scammed.

The first time doesn't exactly count for much when the last 7 have shown they never meant for it to be that easy.
If anything that was nothing more than a bait and switch.

Microwaves and ice cubes - A complete scam. - StopMe - 2011-07-27

I never said the scroll could come from there. I don't mind buying the buttons, just telling people who expected this to be some sort of revenue source to watch out.

I already have 8 armor scrolls if that's what you mean. I fully intended to lose money/mesos on this.
Don't think anyone in the right mind would spend that amount of real cash on this event, but you never know.

Maybe some people expected the same out of this with all the errors lately.

@KhainiWest

I saw it, just had my super 200 reindeer milk vision turned off for a few minutes.

Hi, I think you're new to maple if you didn't see this coming. Amherst thread is thattaway.

Also like to mention you'll make decent profit, those armor scrolls will be 20x their worth 2 weeks after the event ends, gurrantee it. (Assuming no dupe)

And assuming next week isn't "Missed your chance? GOLD GACHABOXES ARE BACK AND NOW HAVE THEM"
or some other craziness.

And assuming the "SECRET CONTENT" isn't really some other thing another version has released, except recolored and with voice overs.

These scrolls were already available from hot time, if you did not know. They will not double within 2 weeks. 2 months, maybe. It's 15%.

Microwaves and ice cubes - A complete scam. - KhainiWest - 2011-07-27

And how many were supplied during hottime? If there's a supply and people can manage 9 perfect 27 weapon attack armors, they will invest into them. This will give a larger supply, which will bring a much larger demand for them as the supply is limited.

If I still played I'd be hoarding them now lol

Really does show you don't play, they give 1 att each. They're not that hard to afford, just the whole "PRIZE" concept pisses me off.

Someone told me in-game that all scrolls from Inkwell are untradeable. Not true?

I have yet to try trading, but it does indeed say untradeable.

for people with the money, pass one, and use one of those miraculous chaos.

Just tried that and failed on a czak. The rate to get att with a miraculous and regular isn't any different, besides the extra chance of the 6-10.
Still a horrible market scheme nonetheless.
