when are stats more important than att? - jrvillarreal - 2008-10-12 when in a stat-less char (dexless warrior, lukless mage, etc.) do stats matter more than att? Example: is a 3 DEX cape EVER better than a 3att PAC for an archer? Or is there a point where a mage's 1 INT is equal to 1 magic att? I guess what I'm really asking is, if you're making a statless character? Would you rather scroll your equips with (primary stat) or att? Thanks in advance
when are stats more important than att? - Cyanne - 2008-10-12 Weapon attack is always better than a primary stat. For magicians, int is better than magic attack. when are stats more important than att? - NoJobNoRules - 2008-10-12 The only time that stats would be more important (for example, a 14 DEX YAC vs a 4 ATT PAC) is when the equip requirement depended on it. For example, if you were a Dexless 2h Sword Crusader and you wanted to use a Stonetooth and the 14 DEX YAC gave you just enough to wield it (thereby doing more dps while training), then it would be better. That's the only case I can think of. It is better off going low-stat or a regular build even if you can't do higher damage while being statless. :X when are stats more important than att? - Blankout - 2008-10-12 A mage's INT = 1 M. att and 1 M. def, I believe. And scrolling for W. att will always lead to more damage compared to something scrolled with the same amount of STR, DEX, or LUK. when are stats more important than att? - 'Lexy - 2008-10-12 On my Page, it was better to have my 15 STR YAC on instead of my 3 attack/6 STR PAC on. when are stats more important than att? - DrRusty - 2008-10-12 for bandits, a 30 atk MS shield would be better than say a 32 attack dragon khanjar due to the dragon khanjar requiring more stats to equip. when are stats more important than att? - KajitiSouls - 2008-10-12 'Lexy Wrote:On my Page, it was better to have my 15 STR YAC on instead of my 3 attack/6 STR PAC on. That might have been because your Page was of a low level and/or had moderately high DEX. At higher levels, your 3 atk/6 STR PAC will be much better. You can probably see why when you look at the rough conversion of STR to watk, which is STR/watk. EDIT: Hmm, now that I think about this, I'm not sure if I said that correctly in Math-speak. But basically this ratio typically ranges around 6-7 STR per watk at lvl 100+. when are stats more important than att? - Kaasoljoyyx - 2008-10-13 Weapon attack is always better than str/dex/luk. The only thing that changes is the ratio of "How much luk/dex/str is equivalent to 1 weapon attack" and that answer depends on the formula which indirectly relates to your level. As you get higher level, your primary/secondary stats go up but it takes much more of them to equal the multiplier that 1 weapon attack has. As for mages, 1int = 1 Magic attack [ignoring the 1 mdef] in terms of damage. However, int is slightly better than 1 Mattack but the difference is negligible. when are stats more important than att? - Stereo - 2008-10-13 Yeah, Int is slightly better than Magic in the mage formula, since it is 3.3*magic+0.003365*magic*magic+0.5*int, and Magic = m.atk + int. when are stats more important than att? - Nikkey - 2008-10-13 Weapon attack is better than stats when you have more in your primary stat than weapon attack (if that made sense). Theoretically this would be always, apart from early high-funded warriors. when are stats more important than att? - Pauru - 2008-10-13 Main stats and weapon attack go hand-in-hand when increasing damage. Even though att tends to have a bigger impact than stats, the amount one increases your range is relative to how much you have of the other. If you have 200 weapon attack, but only 4/4 in your main stats don't expect to do much damage; likewise having 1 att with 800 or so in your main stat won't be impressive either. For that reason you can't just say that x att = y stat. when are stats more important than att? - 'Lexy - 2008-10-13 KajitiSouls Wrote:That might have been because your Page was of a low level and/or had moderately high DEX. Actually, it was level 51 with 25 base DEX. Hmmn. *is exception to known laws of maple* when are stats more important than att? - wobbufet - 2008-10-13 If your stat:att ratio < 1. when are stats more important than att? - Nikkey - 2008-10-13 wobbufet Wrote:If your stat:att ratio > 1. stat:att = stat/att. When this number is over 1, then it's convenient to add in more att, not stat. when are stats more important than att? - Tharticus - 2008-10-13 It's always this rule in MS kingdom: For physical attackers; W.Atk > AP stats. And how many ap points does it take to make it equivalent? For magic attackers; Int > M.atk. when are stats more important than att? - Koriz - 2008-10-13 Devil's Sunrise Wrote:stat:att = stat/att. when are stats more important than att? - haha01haha01 - 2008-10-13 well, as a level 100 warrior 1 att gives the same damage bonus as 4 str. as a level 160 warrior its 1 att on 8 str. when are stats more important than att? - Derimed - 2008-10-13 Att does more for non-magician characters than ma att does for magicians. At the higher lvls as I recall 7 stat points = 1 att. So, a 3 att cape will be the equivalent of a 21 stat cape. For magicians, as Cyanne pointed out, int is more important than ma att, but that's because every 10 points of int give you more MP during a lvl up, and int is affected by Maple Warrior. However, in terms of direct calculation of attack value, 1 int = 1 ma att. Because of that, in FM people will be advertising for something like a "114 stat Maple Shine wand," which might be something like 101 ma att, 13 intelligence. An 9 ma att, 4 int purple cape is equivalent to a 13 int yellow cape, (but worse during lvl ups,) but a 4 att 2 dex cape is still very good despite the crappy scrolling job. Hope this helped. when are stats more important than att? - Evilince - 2008-10-13 IMO, both stats and attack are just as important as each other. If you had 30 str (thinking warrior) and had an overkilled 500 attack weapon, it would still be hardly any range, more or less that 500 attack is meaningless, but if you add a lot more str the attack becomes worth a lot more. Therefore they rely on each other and are just as important as each other. |
