Dear Nexon Community,

All of us at Nexon would like to express our deepest sympathy to those affected by the earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan last week. As a global company, many friends, family members, and fans of Nexon have undoubtedly been affected by these tragic events. It seems that every day, the scale of the disaster is growing, and were very concerned about the health and well-being of those that have gone days without food, water, and other basic supplies. To do our part in the global relief effort, Nexon will donate 100 million Yen (approximately $1.2 million)to aid relief agencies that are helping those affected by these devastating events.

We would also encourage you to help those in need in Japan by donating directly to the following aid agencies:

The Red Cross
International Medical Corps
The Salvation Army
Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres

You can also help from within your Nexon gameplay experience. In addition to Nexons donation, from March 14 through March 20, Nexon America will be donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of many of our in-game items to the Red Cross for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami disaster relief efforts.

For more details on the items that will help support these relief efforts in Japan, go to:

These donations merely scratch the surface of what is needed to support the overall relief and rebuilding efforts. However, we hope that in some small way, our efforts combined with the rest of the world will help ease the suffering of those affected by these tragic events and remind the people of Japan that people all over the world are thinking of them.

We thank you for your support and for joining us to help those in desperate need.

+1 to Nexon. $1.2 million does mean a lot.

Now if someone tells me I'm throwing my money away on NX, I have a retort.

That's good. They're doing the exact same thing Nexon Japan is doing.

This is the most impressive thing I think I've ever seen from Nexon.

I'm really happy to hear about this decision, and even going the distance to inform players of good places to donate. This is definitely respect worthy.

Go nexon!

Unless you buy anything you might actually want. Those items don't count.

Glad they donated $1.2m but I think the other part of this is kind of a scam.

edit: posting this in every post to get the point across.

Sarah Wrote:To anyone who REALLY wants to donate to the Red Cross, I propose you just text 90999 to REDCROSS and leave out the middleman. If you want to buy NX, do it, but don't do it because you want to do something good. If you want to do something good, do it without getting something in return.

I love how in this notice they just say "many of our items", and don't specify that the items most people buy, won't go towards this donation.

All items save those in the Cash Shop's GAME category

Nexon definitely impressed me with this. Let's cube for Japan Biggrin

Cubes are in the GAME category.

This is SUCH a surprise coming from Nexon o_o

Either I'm missing the way Nexon worded it, or Nexon's saying all game item sales will go to it. :f6:

Clarification please @.@

Yess!

Go Nexon! They have just regained most of my respect back.

No.

'Save for' means 'except for'

If you look in the cash shop, you'll see various tabs that hold different items. Cubes, scissors, etc are all under the game tab (or category as they call it)

Naw it's not that bad. I'de gladly donate money to help

The Disaster in Japan, How We Can All Help - Sarah - 2011-03-15

I really hate this. Nexon has done something genuinely good by donating $1.2 million and then they sort of ruin it by adding a ridiculous clause that will benefit them more than the people they're supposed to be helping.

A lot of people are presumably going to go out and buy NX now thinking it's going to go toward the relief funds. They'll either not read or misunderstand that items like cubes aren't covered and will spend all of that NX on them, completely negating their attempted contribution. It's things like this that make Nexon look so scummy but they can't be held accountable because the words are there and it's not their fault people don't read them.

To anyone who REALLY wants to donate to the Red Cross, I propose you just text 90999 to REDCROSS and leave out the middleman. If you want to buy NX, do it, but don't do it because you want to do something good. If you want to do something good, do it without getting something in return.
