Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - IPunketOz - 2010-04-29

http://forum.nexon.net/MapleStory/forums/thread/4643315.aspx

Nexon Wrote:Can you believe MapleStory is five years old? On Wednesday, May 5th the celebration begins. We're going to celebrate the anniversary all throughout May! We've prepped some major events and some even more major rewards. We'll relive some old memories and make some new ones and all month long you'll be able to enjoy in-game prizes like anniversary-themed gifts and real life prizes.

Event 1: Cakes or Pies?

We have a huge exclusive event that brings pies to Maple World. In the Cakes or Pies event, NPC Cake Boss Daniel and NPC Pie Lord Tiara have summoned cake and pie monsters all over Maple World. They need your help to decide which delicious dessert is better. Players will be divided equally by the Maple Admin to side with either cake or pie. Players will then be sent on a mission to collect non-consumable cake or pie items to return to their designated NPC to summon a cake or pie boss mob invasion available in 4 designated towns.

Players of both factions can earn insignias from gaining control of a town. The losing faction will also earn insignias but not as many as the winning faction. Players can also earn insignias for turning in cake or pie pieces. For every 200 pieces turned in to their respective faction NPC you will earn one insignia. Insignias can be traded in for the limited 5th Anniversary Rolling Pin weapon or other in-game items!

At the end of the event, the faction with the most claimed towns will be named winner of the event. In addition to the satisfaction of winning, players of the winning faction will be entered to win some serious prizes ranging from a Maple-skinned laptop to Cash Shop items. The non-winning team will also get the chance to claim Cash Shop items for their participation!

Event 2: Five Year Reunion

If you've been a long time player you definitely know how MapleStory has evolved over the years. Take a journey with us down memory lane with our Five Year Reunion event. Revisit NPCs you've encountered during your Maple journey and complete their quests for Celebration Tickets. Celebration Tickets can be used to exchange for consumable items, the classic Blue Maple flag, or the 5th Anniversary equips! Monsters will also drop Celebration Tickets but completing the quests for the event is the quickest way to earn them. Completing quests from the event will also reward you a random item such as a scroll.

Event 3: Welcome Back to Maple World

Five years is a big milestone and we hope many Maplers return to celebrate this momentous occasion. Maplers who return after a 3 month hiatus will receive a Welcome Back Ring. When equipped, this ring will give an exclusive effect and an 80% party EXP bonus.

Current Maplers will receive a Mapler Ring with a special effect as well. When partied together with a Welcome Back Ring holder, the Mapler Ring holder will see an item drop rate increase of 1.5!

Lots and Lots of Web & Other In-Game Events

We want the five-year celebration to be a truly memorable one. So we're going to be throwing one wild party. We're creating commemorative a MapleStory mousepad and stickers to give away. So stay tuned to events on the website, forums, and on Facebook for your chance to win. And we'll also be picking random winners, so literally everyone has a chance to win!

Save the Date: Wednesday May 5

The fun begins in MapleStory on May 5. Keep your eye on the website for the latest details on the 5th Anniversary! Thanks to everyone for five wonderful years!

Those rings being the only thing worthwhile in this patch.

80% exp bonus for 3 months....

That aren't available to anyone who would actually make use of it. Great.

Unless they're untradeable i don't see how. If it expires it shouldn't matter who has the ring, especially if they want people to actually use it for training thus spending money.

Did they expire in SEA/EMS? People used those a lot. I'm glad we're finally getting it.

"Current Maplers will receive a Mapler Ring with a special effect as well. When partied together with a Welcome Back Ring holder, the Mapler Ring holder will see an item drop rate increase of 1.5!"

Cool.

I wouldn't say that...

I spy a little pink dragon pet in the middle of this pic, idk if its a pet tho o.o

I like the ilovepie medal, and Im guessing the cake/pie quest will have diferent levels right?

The rings look interesting, I wonder if they stack with family buffs Big Grin

Also, is it just me? or does the player have some kind of weird pink mir on him/her?

They're definitely absolutely positively going to be untradeable. If Nexon wanted the people who would use it to have them then they'd give them to everyone.

Only talking about the exp ring. even in a party the other members won't feel the exp bonus, just the drop bonus.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - Takebacker - 2010-04-29

But that defeats the point of "Welcome back!" o.o

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - Five Second Pose - 2010-04-29

So the ring for current Maplers does nothing unless you party with someone with the other ring? Lame.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - Stereo - 2010-04-29

Not sure if I like this...

Looks like I shouldn't have logged on my NL for the first time in 4 months yesterday though. :x

Hopefully those Celebration Points aren't gonna be too ridiculous to get. I want whatever 5th anniversary equips are going.

Takebacker Wrote:But that defeats the point of "Welcome back!" o.o

What...

The point is that they think this will bring people back, but most people who don't play don't care anymore. There are some people who will take advantage of it, obviously. But my point is the people who do play are the ones who deserve it and the ones who nexon are neglecting because it'll hurt their bottom line. Too much free exp = less reason to buy 2x cards.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - K!yO - 2010-04-29

Still no word on 2x everyday? Lame.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - Corn - 2010-04-29

I nominate everyone to chose the pie option.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - Takebacker - 2010-04-29

I second the motion. From now on everyone on SP will vote for pie!

Sarah Wrote:Only talking about the exp ring. even in a party the other members won't feel the exp bonus, just the drop bonus.

It says very clearly an 80% party xp bonus while someone wears the ring. Unless you think they mean the wearer gets an 80% bonus to party xp and everyone else gets nada, which is dumb and misleading, but then again this is Nexon.

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - SwordStaker - 2010-04-29

This is it..? Really?

Exclusive 5th Anniversary Events Sneak Peak - K!yO - 2010-04-29

I don't think we have our own choice in the Pie or Cake option.
