Archers and CWK - DarkestTempest - 2008-08-14 Well, we've all spend quite a number of time (3 1/2 or 4 1/2 hours, not sure) in CWK, and probably got a good idea of how the mobs work and stuff. Once the initial craze has gone past, we'll most likely be looking at the practical result of this update - is CWK (or at least its outskirt) good for our training? From the look of things, I'd say not. Leprechauns are good for money farming but horrible for training (they're kinda like a voodoo except for with only decent HP/exp ratio rather than a crazy one, and that's if you can brave the dangers of a stray Bigfoot), and all the monsters on the mountains are mix n' matched to the max, and to make matters worse things are frequently smashed with windraiders, which is a terrible monster to train on. Crimson Guardians are not mixed, sure, but apparently their damage can go up to 5k, and from what I've seen (read: the few seconds I spent trying to get up before bumping into one while not at full health and promptly dying), there isn't much of a sniping spot. There are a couple of places of interest from what I've seen so far. Phantom Path - Mainly Elderwraithes. They're everywhere, slow, and don't have a magic attack. 51k HP for 2480 exp isn't bad. They do kinda hurt though, and you can't freeze them. THey also don't lend themselves to mob very well. The Nightshadows on the map are icing on the cake since the max damage I've seen them do is like 1.8k. Still totally immune to ice though. Cave of Fear - The only Windraider free cavern. Both Stormbreakers and Firebrands have OK exp rate, but Firebrand's 2nd form is a bit annoying with their tendency to fly around (at least they don't sink when frozen, unlike every other flyer in the game). The map's pretty small so they mob pretty decently. I can't expect it to be much use for me though, but it's something lower level Snipers want to try out. Cave of Honor - Well obviously since I'm looking for hunting Nightshadows, this is the map of choice. Unfortunately there are lots of annoying Windraiders around to slow down the exp, so I'd have to test further. Path of Strength - The closest thing to a party-friendly map I can see on CWK. No annoying windraiders, and all of the monsters on the map are quite well off in HP/exp ratio. The flying Firebrand/Elderwraith could be annoying though. This is the map I have the most hope for. The Path of Peril - I'm not quite sure how to get there so I haven't explored it yet, but Typhoons look like Gryphon upgrades, and since they actually have a map to themselves, they could be something workable. I need to actually see the map first, though. Any comments, thoughts, and your own experiences with CWK? Archers and CWK - Anyoneisgod - 2008-08-14 i like guardians, spilt that map up right and its a great Archer endgame. Archers and CWK - DarkestTempest - 2008-08-14 How much damage do Guardians do? I heard they can do up to 5k. Archers and CWK - Hazzy - 2008-08-14 Top right side of the Guardian map seems to be a safe spot. They couldn't walk over. I'd say it's a plausable sniping point. :> I saw 3.3~3.5 touch, ish. I did see a magic attack, but I didn't see it's damage. :[ They do enjoy sealing though, so all cures/a priest(big surprise?) would be handy. Archers and CWK - Kevvl - 2008-08-14 They did about 4.4k magic to my bishop friend. It's non-elemental, so Elem resistance wouldn't have helped lower damage. 5k sounds about right for max. Archers and CWK - TugboatWilly - 2008-08-14 DarkestTempest Wrote:How much damage do Guardians do? Archers and CWK - Kevvl - 2008-08-14 Remember that black squids have like 500 M-Att, and do like 10 damage. I wouldn't go in there attacking with less than 5k HP personally XD Archers and CWK - DarkestTempest - 2008-08-14 Magic damage depend on more than monster's magic attack. I mean, look at Squid's ink blast damage. Its patk and matk are both up to date, so there must be SOMETHING else that makes it do 1 damage to zhelm'd people and 100 otherwise, instead of the 1400-1500 you'd expect from monsters around its level range. Archers and CWK - Overdrive - 2008-08-14 I was at Typhons for a while and the most damage i received was like 500 damage? I was gathering a mob puppeting them and then sniping with strafe. It takes me an average of 8 hits to kill one and gives me 3.2k EXP. I'm level 92. They seem like really awesome monsters, but the map is REALLY big so they might not be that great. :\ Archers and CWK - JoeTang - 2008-08-14 TugboatWilly Wrote:they have 30(?) more matk than skeles, right? don't think their damage would go that high unless you're buck naked or something. 130, actually, so about 5k sounds right. Squid Ink Shots are physical damage. Archers and CWK - DarkestTempest - 2008-08-14 It still doesn't explain its low damage. I mean, Squid's touch damage is 1400 or so. Archers and CWK - Kevvl - 2008-08-14 I think Squids are the only monsters like that though. Weird little buggers =/ Oh, and Newtie magic damage is actually physical damage. With +Def equips I take like 100 less, with +magicdef equips I take none less. The Guardians have pretty good exp/HP ratios (1/19), and I suppose if you could survive a hit, you could train on them pretty well. Too bad they're Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart immune =/ *edit* Oh, and they seal. woo! Archers and CWK - Calvinist - 2008-08-14 this is the damage when i touched it
Spoiler
this is the damage when it did its magic attack (i have 20 element res btw)

Electrophants, and Extra D's to a lesser degree. Archers and CWK - Itay - 2008-08-15 Kevvl Wrote:They did about 4.4k magic to my bishop friend. Archers and CWK - Technolink - 2008-08-15 Wow, I better lvl before I explore CWK. I look pinappled there O_o Archers and CWK - Beaner - 2008-08-15 dont even go there unless you want to get banned. aparently is so special for archers since its the last thing you will see before getting banned. also the maps are crap, monsters are crap, f/p are crap and jump quests are crap. Archers and CWK - Cyanne - 2008-08-15 Squids work like that because each ranged physical attack has its own attack stat independent of the monster's stats. Archers and CWK - DarkestTempest - 2008-08-15 Ah, thanks for the explanation. Crimson Guardians still look SOMEWHAT trainbale though for those who can take its physical hit consistently (They hit 30 more than my max HP today >_< GUess I'll use my BH armor to counter that), since there's a spot (and maybe another in the mirror spot) where you can smash them with AE/AR and not get hit. Looting will get difficult though. I'll try again when I have the time. Other maps just suck. Less exp than gobies. Oh yeah, speaking of Leprechauns - they WOULD have been nice, if it werent for the fact that you have ot pass a map full of Elderwraithes to get there. Most people who can take a hit from Elderwraith has little business trying to make money OR exp from Leprechauns. Archers and CWK - D-F1am3 - 2008-08-15 i THINK that the only reason they do 5k dmg is when they take out that mace type weapon and swing it at you. I'm not sure though. |
