Apple iPad - Milelke - 2010-01-27 [I know there's a thread in the funhouse.... in the funhouse] Well Apple showed it today. Seems like it was all over-hyping, so much, it doesnt seem very impressive. It's basically the same as an iPod Touch, except with a big screen. For some reason, there is no flasf, which is a huge disadvantage to a 500$ item. Also, the price is actually 1000$, if you don't want a glorified iTouch. You have to pay to get 3g in general, and then pay monthly for 3g use. 499$ is wifi only. The e-reader isn't realy special. Go read a real book, ITS LIKE ACTUALLY READING A BOOK! Steve said (along the lines of) "Its the most amazing way to read a book", my comment was "Besides actually reading the book". The thing is also backwards compatible in apps, so, don't bother jumping, keep your iPhone/iTouch The only different thing I heard was iWork. But since apple products don't do that very well, I'm doubtful of the program. Basic Rating: Revolutionary: Hardly. It's just a huge iTouch. Different, New: No. Tablets already exist. UI: IPOD TOUCH INTERFACE Hype Live-Up: No Overall: 3/5, mainly for being overhyped, and being an itouch with a huge screen. There was nothing that screamed WOW! Apple iPad - GMSInfighter - 2010-01-27 The made from scratch by a small group of guys Pandora is easily better. Behold Apple iPad - VladTheLvr - 2010-01-27 Id take Kindle over the iPad if I wanted to read eBooks. Not to mention that the iPad has batteries, real books dont need no stinking batteries. Apple iPad - Cyadd - 2010-01-27 Oh wait, you guys are talking about an Apple tablet? I thought this was a glorified women's hygiene product... Apple iPad - Worthyness - 2010-01-27 Cyadd Wrote:Oh wait, you guys are talking about an Apple tablet? I thought this was a glorified women's hygiene product... LOL. What i see it as is a gigantic iTouch (woulda said iPhone, but it can't call people). What was it made for? o_O Apple iPad - Greg - 2010-01-27 Worthyness Wrote:What I see it as is a gigantic iTouch That's exactly what it is. ![]() Really, Apple? C'mon. Apple iPad - xLeviathan - 2010-01-28 It's got some definite advantages over both an iPod Touch/Phone, etc. It gives you a more complete viewing experience than an iPod Touch and an iPhone without having to pay for a hefty phone bill or a small pineapplein' screen. Watching movies and reading webpages on an iPhone is extremely annoying. Using it at home is generally annoying, but this is a more affordable option than buying a new laptop. Let's face it...this fulfills most of the tasks the average consumer buys a laptop for a good price. It's thin, light, aesthetically pleasing, and does what it's intended to do. I think Apple did a good job setting the price this time...you pay for what you get. I could DEFINITELY see myself using this in school as opposed to my netbook. A much better buy than an iPod Touch IMO. The functionality of a Kindle and a Touch AIO with a larger screen than both for a good price. As far as what it's lacking...Flash + Multi-tasking...this seems to run on iPhone OS, so I'd expect multitasking with the release of iPhone OS 4.0. Who knows about Flash. That's a mystery and also a huge disadvantage. Apple iPad - Hazzy - 2010-01-28 iDon't know about you guys, but iAmSick of all these iProducts. It was amusing at first... now it's just annoying. "iWork". ._. Apple iPad - XTOTHEL - 2010-01-28 It's got the capabilities to be used as a cellphone, the hardware is there, just have to wait for some people to hack it. I don't like the 3/4" border all the way around. No webCam, if they truly want everyone to replace their netbooks with this, they need a webcam. Screen aspect ratio not best for watching movies. There's a video-fitting feature like the iPhone but I'm guessing you may lose some quality. It's minimal, though. I lose next-to-nothing on my phone. They really need a webcam, though. Very true. Apple just isn't good with cameras...they still need one in their Touch if they wanna boost sales (then again there's the factor of keeping the iPhone ahead of the game). Hurf. I wonder if you can make calls on 3G (like a regular call - no VoIP)? I know South Korea has no GSM and only 3G but they may have some other network that allows them to do that. If you can, that'd be great. Then again, calling from that thing would suck. Apple iPad - Dusk - 2010-01-28 Hazzy Wrote:iDon't know about you guys, but iAmSick of all these iProducts. What's so great about 500 dollar products that are flimsy as hell and don't do anything better than what you can buy for 100 dollars? Apple iPad - Horusmaster - 2010-01-28 I woulld rather buy this: Apple iPad - Kabanaw - 2010-01-28 Horusmaster Wrote:I woulld rather buy this: I checked out the specs of it on Newegg, not bad. It's only $485 right now. Apple iPad - butterfλi - 2010-01-28 xLeviathan Wrote:Watching movies and reading webpages on an iPhone is extremely annoying. I think Apple did a good job setting the price this time...you pay for what you get. I could DEFINITELY see myself using this in school as opposed to my netbook. The only time I would ever use an iTouch at home would be if I was sitting on the john and looking for a way to have a blast. Unless in the year of 2010, TV is too 1900's I don't see why the iPad would replace watching movies at home on a 42"+ TV screen. As for being "cheaper than laptops" I would rather fork out an extra $50 and get a decent Dual Core processor laptop for around $550. Some of them are even less. I certainly would be able to do more on a lapotp than I can on this thing. The iPhone/Touch were a hit because it provided many functions of computers right in the palm of your hand for people who are on-the-go a lot i.e. college students, and businessmen. I cant' see this being as big of a necessary as iPhones and laptops. Apple iPad - Milelke - 2010-01-28 iPad is no where near close to a laptop or computer. I have a computer in my house that has flash and internet, why would I want an iPad. The iPad looks like it's going to be one of Apple's failures. Or, not a good seller due to the fact of it's major disadvantages. Apple iPad - god - 2010-01-28 yeah basically a larger iphone without the goodies. waste of money Apple iPad - y0y0y0y0shi0 - 2010-01-28 Horusmaster Wrote:I woulld rather buy this:Aside from the crappy memory, WANT.
