Didnt know where else to post this...
I just got this email from [email]wowaccountadmin@blizzard.com ...the[/email] thing is I dont play WoW. I think I signed up to get blizzards newsletter ages ago but this is the first thing I've got from them.
Scammer or real email.?

lol I was pretty sure it was a scam since I dont play the game, never regesterd an account or visit the forums. I went and had a look for the WoW forums and this is indeed a phishing scam.

Because its probably in a strong 1-way-encryption in their databases. But its still illogical due to the fact that they can look at everything you do without logging on to you.

Well as a ex-WOW SUPER ADDICTED FREAKAZOID, I can tell you that is fake, however I'm impressed at the email, thats a legit wow admin email cause i've emailed the blizz admins alot when i used to be a pro dwarf hunter. The reason I know it is fake/scam is because thats not the format they use when trying to verify the original ownership of an account. What they first do is a looong ass investigation that takes about 1-2 weeks, if/when they finally found out the account has been compromised or any other illegal activies has been detected, they send a fax/email where you just write your account name (not password) and your real name with a copy of a legit I.D. like your driver's license. and they reset everything to random and email you with the random info which you can change at their community website.

If they're really the admins, they probably wouldn't need your password to fk over your account
Or if retrieval of account information is dependent on the password as the decryption key, then who wouldn't pay extra space to store the password in String format? (seeing how this is an MMO service I highly doubt this is what they do)

I did it, and in return Blizzard gave me 50 level 70 characters and some one of a kind gear that gave "Inf." to all stats. It's so awesome dude, try it. I don't even play WoW and i became pro in a day.

Never assume that the email address in the "from" field is correct. It can easily be forged.
